When you meet that special someone in the community, someone you have connection with, or want specific advice from, you can write a private message. 
1. First, you have to go to that person's profile
To do so, click on their name highlighted in blue in a comment or discussion
2. Click on the button "Add Friend" and wait for your friend's confirmation

3. Once the person has accepted you requet, you'll be able to send them messages. 
You will be able to write on your friend's wall on their profile or send them a private message.
