Help finding a venue!-hamilton on

Happy Hedgie, on September 11, 2017 at 12:03 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 16

Hello all,

I am new to these forums and hoping everyone will be able to help.

My fiance and I are recently engaged (less than 1 month) and are planning on a fall 2018 wedding. We have been trying to narrow down venues and I'm starting to get overwhelmed.

We are planning an intimate ceremony and reception with between 19 and 26 people in the Hamilton ON and surrounding area. We are hoping for an indoor ceremony and reception with the opportunity to take photos outside. Our budget for venue and catering (with consumption bar as the majority of our guests do not drink) is approximately $3000 though we are willing to spend a bit more for the right place. If possible I would like to avoid the standard ballroom/banquet hall feel as I would like a more unique venue.

Does anyone have any ideas? How many venues does it take/did it take you before you found the right one?

So far we have visited:

*Casablanca Winery Inn--prices are good but, venue is a bit dated and not picture friendly

*Ancaster Old Mill--Beautiful (exactly what we want) but, have been told we need to do a Sunday lunch or have our dinner at 9 p.m. as larger weddings take priority. This is unacceptable to us.

*C Hotel, Carmen's Group--Nice but, very pricey (plan to charge us almost double because of our small guest list)

Other options which haven't panned out:

* Dyment Farm--our party is too small

* Puddicombe--again we are too small

* Peller Estates--doesn't do weddings

* Beamer Falls Manor--too expensive

*Aberdeen Tavern--not enough parking

*Hacienda Sarria--too expensive

*Paletta Mansion--our party is too small

*Lakeview, Carmen's--our party is too small

I'm still waiting to hear back from a bunch of people (wish me luck):

*McMaster Faculty Club

*Art Gallery of Burlington

*Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory

*Springer Estate

*Peninsula Ridge

*Stonewall Estate

*Honsberger Estate

If you are still reading (whew...I didn't realize how long that was until I started) thanks for the help. Smiley smile

Thanks ladies for all of the helpful suggestions.

I've reached out to RBG and will research a few of the others.

Inn on the Twenty! A friend of mine was married here and it was absolutely beautiful. But I'm not sure if they have an indoor space for ceremony or if it's outdoors only.

There is also Barrangas on the beach. I know they have done weddings. My friend got married there a couple years ago and the did a good job, and she had a small group. I've seen other weddings there also.

If you go a bit further, there is a town called Jordan Station and they have a lovely place that does weddings, see if I can find the name, can't think of it right now. Also there is Red Rock restaurant out that way. Lovely location.

So glad you could provide some guidance. I live east of Toronto so I'm not familiar with Hamilton.

Have you tried the Art Gallery of Hamilton. Beautiful weddings there, I almost went there. Ancaster Old Mill is where I wanted to get married, but for what they don't offer it's very expensive, and I didn't feel like cleaning up after my wedding when paying those prices. We ended up going with Carmens. The RBG is wonderful, also have you check the Scottish Rite? Carmens also runs the Dundas Golf and Country Club. I have a couple other suggestions

I didn't even check here as I assumed they only did larger gatherings. I'll take a look tonight. Thanks!

Thanks! A family member is getting married there and while it looks beautiful we want to do something unique for our own wedding.

Have you looked into Royal Botanical Gardens? They can cater to small groups and have indoor ceremony/reception options and then pictures can be done on the grounds which are beautiful.

We only looked at 2 venues and were totally in love with the second one. Most people look at a few more than that for sure. You could look into The Grand Olympia in Stoney Creek. That is where we are getting married. It was super affordable and very beautiful. I am not sure how small your wedding can be with them but it is definitely worth checking out. They are more of a ballroom feel but go and see for yourself. www.grandolympia.ca Good Luck!

One of the brides on this site is getting married in Hamilton. Her name is Carol. At the moment she's the most frequent user so you can find her easily. She might be able to help you.
