gta Venue Suggestions - Enoch Turner Schoolhouse thoughts?

Jacqueline, on February 18, 2018 at 17:13 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 7

Help!

My fiance and I are in love with Enoch Turner Schoolhouse as we are both teachers and history teachers at that. However, from what I can see online, despite the venue being rather affordable the preferred caterers will drive up the price quickly. We are planning for a budget of $10, 000 overall but this is seemingly impossible! Any suggestions or previous experiences with Enoch Turner Schoolhouse?

I'm originally from the Penetanguishene area but we are planning for a GTA venue because my fiance is British and we will have several people travelling to Canada for the wedding and want to make it easier for them to get to and from the event whilst still being able to enjoy the wedding.

Thanks in advance to any help or suggestions!

My fiancé and I love Enoch Turner Schoolhouse, but we decided against it for that reason! (Plus the gratuities and related fees will add up quickly).

That totally makes sense! I swear they have a wedding tax on everything! I think $80/person is totally reasonable, and I'm sure there is something out there somewhere. I have a friend who got married in 2014 for just over $7000, plus they were a same-sex couple who both wore wedding gowns ($$&dollarSmiley winking! It's going to take a lot of help from friends and family to make it work, but it can definitely be done. Best of luck!

Thank you for your response! Unfortunately we have to do it during peak season because we are teachers and will only have the summer to do it. I love Kortsright center but it's even pricier in terms of catering for us ☹️ we are trying to get it down to $80/pp as we have about 100 people coming and we originally wanted to keep the budget to $10000 but that doesn't seem possible in this day and age!

We are having our reception at the Kortright Centre in Vaughan not too far off hwy 400. It's about $121 per person for a buffet in the winter with an open bar. I don't know how large your guest list is, but they have been amazing so far, and respond super quickly and are really friendly.

All of the proceeds from your event go back into environmental education on sight, and with the winter weddings, they provide each guest with a complimentary bottle of Maple syrup for no extra cost, which covers your favour. Here is the website http://www.kortright.org/private-functions/weddings/ . I know the TRCA also has venues at Pioneer Village in North York too. Goodluck! Smiley smile

Hello! They have a list of preferred caterers we must use if we want to use the facilities. They have pointed us in the direction of one that is not on their published listing who is a bit more budget friendly but still a bit more than we were hoping to spend! We have the added difficulty of trying to plan the wedding whilst living in England as I have moved here to teach and be with him.

Hi Jacqueline, you mention their preferred caterers, are these caterers they recommend, or are you only allowed to use those on their preferred list? Have you been able to sit down for a meeting, or schedule a phone meeting, to ask them your questions?
