Groomsmen colours.

From my experience despite the fact that you ate super excited and want to include people as much as possible, make your decisions on what you both like. Tastes vary and people will pull you in different directions. Its your wedding...your taste...your decision!

It’s your day so do whatever makes you and your fiancé happy!


I do agree though that including both of those colours in a more subtle way might give the groomsmen suits a more typical look. Someone suggested a white shirt and a purple (or blue) tie with a patterned pocket square. I like that idea! You could also do a patterned tie (like the picture).

Honestly, it looks a little prom-y.

I think if you like it, rock it! It is your wedding so do what makes you happy.

I would also agree with others about doing a white shirt with the blue tie and then adding purple into boutonnieres and/or pocket squares. I would also suggest maybe getting white shirts with a purple pinstripe. You still get your colours but slightly more subtle.

I would also have thought a spring wedding, not fall, just looking at the colours as someone else said.

To me this colour combo screams spring not fall but if they are your colours go for it!I would personally swap the shirt for a white one like everyone else has suggested but to what you love.

Who cares what the others think, it's your wedding. I think it looks nice personally; if you're happy with it that's all that matters.

Honestly if those are your colors, do it. It’s your wedding! The only suggestion I could make is to do a white shirt. Maybe incorporate the purple into a pocket square, or boutonnière as someone else said.

I would also do white shirt - you can incorporate the purple in the boutonniere if you're doing those!

In a man’s point of view- yes a crisp white shirt will be best.

I would go with a white shirt rather than the purple. If you really like the colours you could also get your groomsmen to wear one of the colours and then your FH wear the other colour. However, it is your wedding so it is completely up to you!

It’s not my taste but if it’s your taste, absolutely go for it! Don’t let anyone tell you what to do about your wedding if you really want to do something!

If it's what you like - then go for it! Like Amelia said, I wouldn't do the purple shirt with the blue tie - but it's YOUR wedding.

Here is what we did for our wedding party:

Our GM had a bit of a darker colour and my DH had a lighter one with more of a plaid undertone look. But they keps with the grey shirts and then the teal ties. Then my girls wore plum dresses. (DH was supposed to wear a teal tie as well but one of his GM lost his and if anybody was going to stand out it was going to be the Groom...)

I would go with some of the other ladies suggestion of a white shirt!

The shirt and tie aren't what I would pick, but it's YOUR wedding so you and your fiance get to do what you like!


If they get really opinionated would you be open to maybe a more neutral shirt with the tie in the colors you've picked? Also if the guys are buying these they may never wear them again, but if they're renting them then their opinion shouldn't matter as much.

People will always have opinions! If you love the look, that is what matters. I love how fun it is and the colours pop so nice against the grey!

I think it looks great. And who cares what anyone else thinks, it's your guys' day. Do what you want.
