Glasses!!! Will you wear them on your wedding day?

Breanne, on June 16, 2019 at 23:10 Posted in Wedding fashion 0 28
Hey Everyone!!!

When discussing wedding hair and makeup today, my mom asked if I was planning on seeing my glasses for the wedding or not! I was taken aback, since this is something I haven’t even thought about! I haven’t really thought about wearing my glasses or not wearing my glasses.

To give some more insight, I wear my glasses every single day. I’ve never worn contacts in my life!

Did you wear your glasses for your big day? Do you regret your decision? Any insight and advice would be great!!!

I've only ever worn glasses so I will definitely be wearing mine. I feel like I look weird without them. I've never worn contacts before and I've had glasses since I was about 16. My fiancee also wears glasses and he's never worn contacts either.

Sadly I dont have a choice. I cant wear contacts (they dont stick and my eyelids are too strong even the lady at the clinic couldnt keep them open) and I am blind as all hell. Im clumsy enough without adding blindness to the mix lol

Awe man, I hadn't thought of this. I can barely see without my glasses and I have never had contacts, nor do I really have the desire to try them out.

I'm torn because I don't want to miss anything and I'm clumsy by nature and if I am not wearing them, it might make for a memory at my wedding that I do not want.

I have been wearing glasses since I was 14, and for grad I tried contacts but my eyes are too sensitive and it's not worth the hassle. My FH loves how I look in glasses so I will be wearing them. I may get a pair of cheaper glasses that are blingier looking. I do want pics with and without glasses.

I am definitely wearing my glasses! I haven't worn contacts in at least 6 years. I don't enjoy wearing them. I am much more comfortable in my glasses. They are part of who I and I feel weird without them on!!
I realized when we did our engagement photos that my transition lenses weren't going to work for my wedding day so I bought a pair to match my bridesmaid's dresses (just a cheap pair off clearly).

I’ve had a few people ask me the same question! (I’m just under a year out from getting married, lots of time to decide still) I’ve been debating on what to do. On one hand I wear my glasses all the time, I love them, and feel like they complete my face, but on the other hand, they’re large d-frames, and they slide down my nose fairly easily (plastic frames)... I may look into getting a new pair, ordering contacts, or both and see how I feel closer to!

Personally I've never had an issue or ever seen an issue with seeing eye makeup through glasses but if you are or are worried you will have issues and still want to wear your glasses you can have your MUA do a bolder eye look or do it yourself if that's what you are doing.

Shoot. I haven't thought of this. I haven't purchased contact in a loooooong time. I stare at a computer screen all day and they dry out too fast.

But...I'm definitely NOT planning on wearing my glasses. My prescription is small, but I definitely want to see details on the day.... so I guess I'm buying contacts.

    Thanks for the reminder lol

The biggest consideration is your make up I think. Glasses often make eye makeup harder to see. And you have to do a bit more dramatic eye make up when wearing glasses in order for it to really be seen in person and photos. I’ll be wearing contacts to allow my makeup to shine and be seen.

Ill be wearing contact lenses, but I’ve been wearing a mix of my contacts and my glasses for seven years, so it’s normal for me. But if you don’t wear contact lenses already it can take a while to get used to them, at least a month and that’s assuming the first kind you try work, and the last thing you want is to be uncomfortable on one of the biggest days of your life.

I’d say choose glasses- but if you do go for contacts, talk to your optometrist they can recommend ones to best fit your face and often times can sell you just enough to last you a week to try.

Yes! Yes 100% yes. So I am super blind without my glasses and I’ve been wearing them since I was in grade 1. For me I feel more comfortable and confident I my glasses because they look like me. If you feel more like yourself in glasses then go for it, if not a contact look might be really cute.

I still have no idea. I have very loud glasses that when I bought them I just thought they looked cool but they have brought me unwanted attention and I don't want them being the center of attention. What do you guys think? Like it's nice that people like my glasses but it's all anyone notices about me. Ive got 10 plus people a day telling me they love my glasses and I appreciate it. But there are other things about me you know. :/

I am not wearing my glasses, even though I wear them every day out of necessity. I'll be wearing contacts. I wear contacts when I play sports for safety, but I also wear them on special occasions because I think I look better without them. To each their own.

I agree with wearing your glasses. I personally am still 50/50 about wearing mine, because mine are like accessories to me. I love them, they are like jewelry for me so I might get a new pair (since I need a new pair anyway). I am however use to wearing contacts as I do wear them once in a while and if I'm paying to get my makeup done I want everyone to see it.

I never thought of this at all either, so thank you for this.

I don't see myself wearing contacts, my face feels too naked without them. Besides, another way to add some personal flare.

I didn’t wear my glasses but I only need them for distance so don’t wear them on a day to day basis. My friend wears glasses every day (has never used contacts) and wore them on her wedding day-not only because she wouldn’t be able to see without them, but also because they are who she is.

I will be wearing contacts Smiley smile I love my glasses but I don't plan to have them forever, and styles change and whatnot throughout the years. however, if you wear your glasses every single day then I would keep them on! its part of who you are, right?

I know brides (and grooms!) who got married in their glasses because it's who they are! For most of them, it wasn't much of a thought other than "it's just another day, might as well wear them.". They also say that you look more like you with your glasses, if you've worn them for a while.

Most MUAs will know how to work around the glasses (i.e. what looks work best with glasses) and photographers will make sure there's no glare.

I don't wear glasses myself, but just some insights from others who do!

I wear glasses as well but on my big day, I'm going for contacts. I did try out a few dailies which I think works best. I really do not want anything spoiling my makeup and or pictures. I think you can try out contacts and see if they'll work for you, otherwise, stick to your glasses, if it makes you feel more comfortable.

Hey Caitlyn - I'm doing this too but I'd advise starting to try sooner than later - it took over a month for me to find dailies that were not painful to wear!

Do what is best for you and your eyes. Contact lenses are great once you get comfortable with them. One tip is get one pair that will be for the day only rather than going more and having to not use them unnecessarily. Glasses won't take away from your day.

I wear my glasses almost everyday and it's how most people see me - with that being said, I plan on taking some pictures with my glasses off and with my glasses on.

I do have contacts so that is what I will be wearing for the majority of the night and just put my glasses on top for a few pictures, but I don't want to worry about the possible glare we might get or about my makeup coming off and leaving a mark on my nose.

I think that if you don't even own contacts that maybe just try them and see what it's like. If you can't get them in or they are uncomfortable then just wear your glasses. However, if they don't bother you then consider doing what I'm doing but wear your glasses for majority of the night and take a few pictures with them off (you don't even need to wear contacts for those pictures but if down the road you do switch then you will have pictures from your wedding without glasses that you will look more like your future self).

I wear my glasses everyday and have never worn contacts. I was leaning towards wearing contacts for my wedding. I am going to try contacts out maybe a month ish before the wedding, which I advise you do too if you’re considering them, just so you can see how they feel and also figure out if they irritate your eyes at all. If they feel to weird for me or cause problems with my eyes then I’ll wear my glasses.

Wear them! It’s your big day you don’t want to feel uncomfortable that day or look back at the photos and not look yourself. If you always wear them then that day should be any different it’s a part of you

    Wear your glasses!
People asked me this too and it had never even occurred to me since I only wear them and never contacts. I used to wear contacts but I actually prefer my glasses. So I wore them and I definitely don't regret it, they are apart of who I am and my husband even said he thought it would be weird if I didn't wear them. Your photographer knows how to make the perfect photos without worry of glare in your glasses so you definitely shouldn't worry about that.
So I say stick to your glasses, it's who you are! Plus contacts suck and you'd have to start ASAP to get used to wearing them.
