Food Suggestions

Katherine, on February 25, 2018 at 16:57 Posted in DIY 0 14

Hi Everyone,

I am having a 7pm reception and therefore not serving a formal dinner. Looking to put out some food around 9pm, any suggestions?

I also have the option at my hall to do my own food rather then catering.

This is awesome and so simple. People will be consuming alcohol and just want food that tastes good.

Would it seem I am being too frugal?

You can't go from with a make-it-yourself bar of some sorts: tacos, poutine, candy, ice cream etc. A fondue stations is a good idea too, along with any finger food

You could have a bunch of different hors d'oeuvres set out, you could have a make-it-yourself sandwich bar, you could have a bunch of finger foods (little slices of pizza, sliders, chicken tenders), mini grilled cheese and tomato soup dunkers, any type of slow cooker meal.

I had an ex whose mom got married later in the evening at a hall and they brought out a bunch of crockpots (they didn't match and no one cared) filled with pulled pork, pulled chicked, chili etc along with buns, sandwich fixins, salads and everyone made their own sandies. This was like 12 years ago and I still remember how delicious it was and so easy (and relatively inexpensive) for them. Everyone loved it.

I like the idea of a "make it yourself" bar such as tacos, poutine, crepes, parfait, banana splits etc or a fondue fountain (could do cheese or chocolate or both) or, doesn't have to be a fountain as those could get pricey to rent but could do it in a fondue pot and have little spoons for people to scoop it onto their plate with.

I agree with Bianca. Something fun for sure. Maybe even a small make it yourself bar, such as make your own tacos, nachos, poutine or even hummus bar. It would be cheap and yet the guests can decide what to put on their things.

Depending on the mood you’re going for, gourmet pizza and other similar finger foods. I think fun foods would be appreciated.
