Food advice and what do guests do while we take pictures advice

Chris, on August 19, 2017 at 18:41 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 4

We are having our wedding at a resort. We are getting married at 2:30 p.m.

Typically people eat in the morning before 10 a.m.

Our dinner will be at 6:30 p.m. I found out yesterday guests cannot arrive before 6:30 p.m. as we are having a private dinner by the beach and they are transforming the snack / lunch restaurant into the dance floor and our reception dinner. It will take awhile for them to make it pretty from after the guests leave the beach for the day.

Here is where I need you to weigh in.

Our ceremony is legal and it has to be done a certain way based on the country we are getting married and it should be done within 10-15 minutes total. So the ceremony I do and the kiss and walking down the beach as husband and wife should be done by 2:45 p.m.

Then we do pictures with the guests on the beach, family pictures on the beach, family pictures and picture of us around the resort. Then we have a car which we will be escorted off the resort to take a ton of pictures for 2 hours.

Here is my food question

Guests may have lunch I am hoping I assume they will shower get ready around 1:15/1:30. I have to make sure I eat something for lunch.

As dinner is 6:30 p.m. should I have appetizers which are $15 USD pp at the cocktail reception immediately following the ceremony I am assuming its 2:45-3:45 p.m.

What do guests do between 4-6:30 p.m. as they will all be in fancy attire it will be hot, they will not be going swimming. The bride and groom will be off the resort getting pictures.

I do not want guests to get bored what should I do?

A resort wedding for your guests doesn't have to be more needed for apps. They can have lunch at their convenience when ready. As for changing clothes, they have time inbetween the events. It does give the chance to be in regular clothes for some time and then get ready for eeception.

Also just as with a wedding here, it's almost impossible to keep all the guests from getting bored during that time, it's just part of the wedding experience that unfortunately almost always happens. It's very nice that you are worried about your guests during this time, I don't think it's something you need to though. Your guests will be fine and will work it out

Are the guests staying at the same hotel as the wedding? Is it all inclusive? Is the 15 dollars per person "an extra" charge for specialty service? How many guests do you have? If they are guests at the same Hotel, they would be able to go back to their rooms to relax for a bit before the reception. If it's all inclusive, they would also be able to go and get their own food at any of the snack shacks or restaurants that serve doing the afternoon. Now if they are guests coming from other hotels, or family and friends that live where you are having your destination wedding, then they wouldn't have the options of relaxing in their rooms or eating at the all inclusive, in that case I would purchase the hors d'oeuvres per person, you also don't want people Drinking in the heat with no food options.

By resort, is this an all inclusive (sounds like it from your description)? If so, just do thr cocktail and if people are hungry, they'll know where to go get food. That's what happened at our friends' wedding. They had drinks for the cocktail at the beach. Those of us that were hungry went off to where we knew we could get food. Ya we were in fancy attire, but it's a resort and no one was phased. Some people went back to their rooms and changed.
I wouldn't sweat it if it's an all-inclusive resort; people will sort themselves out.
