Flower Budget

Shannon, on February 10, 2018 at 12:49 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 20

How many flowers are too many? are natural decorations (twigs, wildflowers, branches) considered alternative or should I maintain floral arrangements to complement my bouquets as well? Thoughts? Share your decorating styles too!

I've found that unless you have a big budget, go minimal on flowers! I'm getting my bouquet, 4 bridesmaids bouquets and maybe 2 corsages for the moms all from Costco for around $300-$350.... We have the groom, 8 groomsmen and 3 dads, so we are doing silk boutonnieres with their rentals. If you're getting married in October, play up the fall aspect! My logic is, why have tons of flowers at a fall/winter wedding (mines January), when flowers don't even grow at that time. I'm doing acorns & twinkle lights in hurricane vases for centrepieces. Candles, branches, greenery, etc, are all great for non-summer weddings, and definitely saves $$. My sister is livid I'm not doing flowers, but I can't justify thousands of dollars for things that are one day, and are going to die. I wouldn't even be able to enjoy them the following week as we are going straight to our honeymoon.

Heads up, baby’s breath is actually $$! My cousin is a florist and was recently mentioning that a bride wanted a lot of baby’s breath to save on costs but it ended up adding to the cost!

Ya I thought so too! But I also know I’m getting quite a bit so I wasn’t sure.
So im needing my bouquet, 6 bridesmaid bouquets, 11 boutineres, 2 corsages, 15 centrepieces, and 1 head table arrangement! I’m even buying my own vases at a wholesale store to save money that way.
et me know what you think !!

It's really what works best for you. If I could have flowers everywhere I would but I certainly don't have the budget for it! But that being said my mind changed a bit when I went to my cousin's wedding. They were blessed with a large budget so they could pretty much do whatever they wanted !!!! I was glad I was there to support them obviously but also glad to see all those flowers because in the end I realised I didn't want ALL of that. The guest tables were so crowded, catering staff had a difficult time putting stuff on the tables, no room for our purses etc. It was a bit uncomfortable. So now I'm focusing our budget more on the bridal party and 1 centerpiece per table (I have about 20 tables) That's it! I'm now a less is more believer !!!!!

I believe we are just over $2000. $3200 seems like a lot. What exactly are you getting for that price?

We also have a lot of flowers. We have a bucket of baby's breath for our welcome sign, 10 buckets of baby's breath for the wedding aisle, a ton of rose petals to line the aisle, my bouquet, two bridesmaids, groom/groomsmen boutonnieres, a floral arrangement for the seating chart table, a floral arrangement for the welcome table, table centerpieces, a long floral arrangement for our sweetheart table and a bunch of flowers and rose petals for the display behind our table.

The lady whos doing our flowers also rents decor. So we have a bunch of rentals (vases, metal buckets, wine crates, tablecloths, table overlays etc). Our price including the rentals is about $1000.

Hey jen! So I’m wanting quite a bit of flowers at my wedding. Bouquets, boutineres, corsages, centrepieces and head table piece. Cheapest I’ve been quoted is $3200. Did you spend around that much?
I just want to make sure I’m not over paying

We're spending about $850 on flowers, but that will be for my (large) bouquet, 7 bridesmaids bouquets, 3 corsages, 10 boutonnieres and a flower crown.

We're also going to be doing greenery on the tables for centerpieces, but we're hoping to be able to use branches from a Russian Olive tree in my parents yard, so that will all be free Smiley smile

Yikes lol reading everybody's comments makes me feel like I went over board. Our flowers were quite expensive. I refused to use fake as it would have cost just as much for them as real. We are doing boutineers, bouquets for myself and the girls, rose petals to throw for my daughter, two large arrangements for the ceremony, which is outside plus an awesome round green arrangement for our backdrop which will be taken apart and used inside for our head table to add some color, and then each table has a floral centrepiece. I used to work in a flower shop so I'm obsessed with real and wanted to spend more on that aspect than I did on other decor.

I think you can mix real flowers with twigs or the other things you suggested. The bouquets the bride/bridesmaids have can be different from the rest of the decor in my opinion.

We are using real flowers for bouquets, corsages, and boutonnieres. And, we are doing potted plants for the rest of the decor. Some of them will be from the venue and some we are planting ourselves.

We had flowers for bouquets, corsages and boutonnieres. We had potted plants as part of our centerpieces and some flowers decorating signs. No other flowers were used but that is also because we got married at my uncle's property outside and he has gardens throughout the property.

My wedding has paper flowers that my mom is making, 6 bouquets. Along with several boutonnieres and corsages that are also made from paper. We aren't doing flowers anywhere else. We found other things to use as our centrepieces and the rest of the tables will have minimal decorations. Our venue has a breath-taking view, so I want people to focus on that rather than the little things around the room.

I think twigs and greenery are great though, as long as it goes with the theme and look of your wedding. Otherwise, try and find other things that you can use around the room .

We are using fake flowers for our centrepieces and fake ivy for our stair decorations and then real flowers for the bouquets, boutinnieres and corsages.
Hopefully we can keep our flower coats to around $500

I’m aiming to use a lot of baby’s breath in order to save on cost. Otherwise, our budget is around $1000.

We're not doing flowers at all. Maybe boutonnieres for my fiancee and me, but that's all. Too expensive and environmentally destructive.

We are keeping floral decorations to a minimum to save on costs! We will be doing the bouquets, boutoneires, a few florals for the centerpieces, and we will be supplementing with branches/twigs/wheat and pumpkins that our venue has on site!
