Flip Out Or Forget It? - A vendor who doesn't get back to you

Joey, on January 14, 2019 at 09:26 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 31

You count on your vendors to support you, help you, and reassure you. How do you feel when your vendors aren't communicating with you? Does this make you flip out? Or are you able to forget it?

Flip Out! Does this mean they’ll be flaky on the wedding day?! Does it mean they don't think of you as a priority? Can you trust them to be on time and prepared when it matters most?

Forget It! It’s probably an isolated incident, and if they’re a great vendor they are probably very busy! It's ok if they seem to ghost you a little.

Like a lot of people have mentioned, bit of a red flag professionally speaking. I have been pretty good about this while booking, except when I gave the venue the date and it took them three weeks weeks and two follow up e-mails (once weekly) to get the confirmation. Turns out their head event coordinator left suddenly.

That was mainly because all the other vendor booking was on hold until I got that confirmation.

All of my vendors have been extremely professional until now so I would probably worry if this started happening.

It would be a big red flag for me. Basic professionalism calls for timely communication.

Flip out! I get that wedding season is coming, but they need to be on top of their clients, especially when a deposit has been made.

I booked some of my vendors WAY in advance and so far they have all been exceptionally responsive when I do reach out. Anyone I reached out to who didnt get back to me - you snooze, you lose!

I'm not going to flip out, but I'm also not going to be very happy about this. I think people need to be professional, so communication is key.

Agree! If they can't take some time out to reply to an enquiry then they get blacklisted. Some venues never responded to my enquiry and some did weeks later. THANK U, NEXT

Flip out! If I’ve booked someone and they’re being flaky & not answering that really makes me wary of what they’ll be like on the big day. We had a photographer who didn’t show up for the engagement photos despite having been reminded so I’m very uneasy.

That annoys me for sure. If they can't be bothered to get back to me, I can't be bothered to book them. That happened to me for my rehearsal dinner, so the restaurant ended up losing out on over $1000 for the night, not including alcohol. Their loss, not mine! I'm more than happy with the decision we went with instead 😅😅

Flip it! If the vendor doesn't want to get back to you regarding their services or quote, I would leave a message by email or phone and let them go on their way and say no thank you for your services.

I am between right now too... I have some confirmed vendors who are great at response and others who take a bit of time... I try to give the benefit of the doubt (they are usually busy on weekends) but still like... a week should be enough time to answer an email right?

Just like what everyone else said, I'd be flipping if they're already booked. Granted, I don't expect an instant reply, but if they can't get back to me within a reasonable timeframe, I'll probably be upset.

If they are booked and I am contacting to confirm things within last few months. Then I would flip out of they don't contact me within so much time.

If I had already booked them, I would’ve flipped out! Thankfully our vendors were great at responding. Any vendors that I sent inquiries to I just moved on. I’m not giving my money to someone who can’t reply to an inquiry email

Forget it. My vendors have been great so far... if it takes them an extra day, I don't lose it, because they've been emailing me and I've been bad with getting back to them quickly. So I can't blame them for being busy too.

Flip out. I've already moved on from a couple vendors who were horrible about responding.

I would probably flip out if it's one of my bigger vendors (i.e. officiant, photographer, dj) that I can't get in contact.

For some of the smaller things I would forget it and roll with the punches by either book with someone else or forego/diy something.

    Flip out - If I don't get a response within a business week, I typically double-down.

Flip out. My calligrapher is horrible at responding to me, but it's fine cause I will be done with her services before the day. If any of my day of vendors were like that i would be NERVOUS

Flip out - I've dropped a vendor already for not getting back to me (we were pre-contract but still). It's bad business.

Flip out! My makeup artist is totally driving me nuts. In the beginning she would respond to emails within a day, but now that the deposit has been paid, she doesn’t respond to an email for weeks! Getting worried that she might not even show on the actual wedding day.. Smiley angry

Flip out! Nope, sorry. You're running a business - I have no problem with a response of "Sorry, I'm in the middle of something, I'll get back to you by X time." But no response, or missing their self-set deadline? Nope.

    Forget it.

I have also had this happen where there was no response for a couple weeks. But I understand that they are busy as they do more than just weddings.

It would be a different story if it was closer to the wedding.

A little bit of both, though I'd follow up with them politely regardless.

I think it’s so unprofessional, so it may make me rethink my vendor choice. If it’s like pulling teeth just to get a confirmation from them, it would make me very uncomfortable. I don’t mind emailing to remind of things, I get we’re all human, but i don’t know that i would want to take risks for my wedding

Forget it. I've had experienced this and I didn't flip out. The caterer we were just about to book was always days or even weekslate to reply to emails and such and then eventually we just never heard back from her so we booked someone else. She actually just emailed me last week wanted to finish up the booking lol

Forget it. I am notorious for following up and communicating so I’ll get a hold of them somehow. It does show a lack of professionalism but I’m also aware I’m not the only one planning a wedding or event and vendors have other clients. I always try to give the benefit of the doubt.

Flip out Smiley ups . I think it’s so unprofessional. I’m not talking about them not getting back to you for a few days, I’m talking about the vendors that take months to reply or never reply. I think I’m hyper sensitive to this because I’m in the legal field and it’s a huge huge no no to ignore clients and other lawyers like that, whether we are swamped or not. It’s one thing when you’re inquiring about a vendor for them to not get back to you, but when you’ve already booked them and you’re stuck with them then that really grinds my gears.

    Forget it but monitor it.
We changed ring vendors bc of the initial company’s lack of communication. We tried to give them chances and get on board but when someone swooped in with stellar customer service we went with them instead.

Forget it. They are easy busy or they won't get my business. Easy as that! I've got most of everything all booked anyway and you can't worry about things that haven't happened yet.
