Hi there! We’re getting married on the 16th and we are doing the first look too.
We had some people think it was weird but most thought it was cool. We are getting married and planning based on what we want, no one else, so do what makes you happy so you don’t have any regrets.
I have always loved the idea of it and we get married at 5pm and our reception immediately follows that so we wanted to be there to mingle and enjoy time with our guests and not keep them waiting 😊 one thing my fiancé hated about weddings was the gap in between and waiting around so this worked for us.

View quoted message Yes that is good for the time and pictures. I was wondering because I’ve been reading the same thing about reading the vows before the ceremony: when you read them privately, do you read them again in front of your guests or just say the traditional I do?

We are doing a first look due to timing of pictures before and after the ceremony. It helps to not feel as rushed. We also plan on using the time during our first look to read our own separate vows to each other that we have written!

We didn't do first looks due to knowing what we are wearing. My husband needed to get the Indian pants tied with my help as those were our candid shots.

Thank you! I have a good feeling he will cry! He got all teary eye this past weekend when we gave his brother his thank you gift for being a part of the wedding (a watch) so he can wear it the day of the wedding

My FH was adamant on not seeing me before I walk down the aisle. He has given me free reign to plan the wedding so the least I can do is honour his only request.

We are doing a first look because logistically it works better for pictures. We won't be rushed as we will have a few hours before the ceremony at 4:30PM to take lots of pictures. Then, we have the hour 5-6PM to take pictures with other guests and mingle.

I didn't want to feel rushed with photos and I love the idea of having a little intimate moment with my fiancé, just him and I. We are exchanging our personal vows to each other after the first look with just one another.

We're not doing a first look but I will be doing one with my father.
I like the romantic aspect of not seeing each other (together 9 years, legally married for 4 months by the time our wedding rolls around), especially considering we see each other all the time. I've been good at not showing him my dress or anything similar to it so I'm excited for the look on his face. I jokingly put in our shot list to my photographer SO's crying face when he sees me (feel free to pinch him if he is not crying). Which is obviously a joke.

I am doing one with my father as a compromise to him walking me down the aisle. We have a complicated relationship, so I thought this was a good way of subsiding the sting of me not wanting him to walk me down. Plus I am the property of no man and don't like the tradition of the father (or parents) giving the bride away. Instead me and my dog are walking down the aisle to my SO.

True, he's been invested in the planning lately which is nice.

I am team first look! It was really special having that moment just the two of us and we have so many amazing photos from it - It also allowed us to do portraits together and with our wedding party before the ceremony - Which saved us time doing it after and for the ladies, it meant we hadn’t cried our makeup off yet!!

I'm not doing the first look, I actually want the first look When I am walking down the aisle, I would like him to have his back read and then turn to see me. But He's not that kind of guy. He may do it.

We are planning on a first look! The intimacy of that moment is something I'm really looking forward to - that we can hug each other, give a kiss, and enjoy it just the two of us.

A secondary item is that since we are marrying in November, a first look gives us more daylight to get pictures done! But I really believe it's each couple's decision and what their wedding timeline looks like!

We've decided not to do a first look. My fiance wants to see me for the first time walking down the aisle. That's one thing he asked for

We did a first look and it was amazing!! Highly recommend. It was so nice to see each other before to help calm our nerves and the day flowed sooo nicely because of doing all the pictures before the ceremony

Not sure why family would be bothered by the idea unless they're superstitious about the whole seeing the bride before the ceremony thing. But you do you and who cares what others think.

I personally opted for no first look but that's because I really wanted to see her in her dress for the first time as she came down the aisle.
