Finding middle ground

Tiffany, on November 13, 2016 at 15:10 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 3
Hi,Looking for opinions and advice on this.
My family and most friends will be coming in from different provinces to celebrate our wedding, so I need to have a place nearby where they can stay (holes, etc).
My FH'S family are homebodies who live 1-1.5 hours away from us. In fact most of our guests will be coming from this area, which is rural with not a lot of hotels or accommodations.
My first thought was to stay close to where we live as we're not far out of the city where people can stay in hotels.
My FH thought we should find a place in between us and where most guests will come from. However I'm finding trouble finding a nice venue in that area or accommodations, though we've thought of getting transportation back to a hotel in the city for guests as well.
The area we live in is Cantley, Quebec and my FH'S family is from Otter Lake, Quebec. Any suggestions or opinions?

Hey Tiffany!! Smiley heart These are such wonderful areas! I love the nature around there, it's beautiful! Smiley smile Will your wedding be indoors or outdoors? Aren't there a lot of Beds and Breakfasts in that area?

I like Valerie's suggestion to look into AirBnBs as well, any luck in finding anyting interesting? Smiley smile You could click "reply" on her comment when leaving an answer so she gets a notification with your reply. I'm sure she'd love to know if it helped!

You could also check out different means of transportations, to bring your guests to the closest town for accomodation. Natasha also had a similar issue last week, you should check out her discussion: Transportation

What are your favourite options so far?

Thanks Valerie! I had never heard of airbnb but what a great idea. I had heard of people renting homes just not how they did it. There is some in the city but I'll need to check if there are any in the more rural areas to see if guests could stay there if we decide to pick a venue there Smiley smile

I think staying somewhere not too far out from the city and getting transportation for your guests is a wonderful idea and very thoughtful! Do you also have something like Airbnb rentals? Families or groups of friends could split renting them as a cheaper alternative.

I don't know the area so I don't have any specific recommendations.
