Fashionista or nah?

Leah, on May 11, 2018 at 07:37 Posted in Wedding fashion 0 11

For the most part I think I have an eye for what looks good vs not so good, but I just suggested bridemaids dresses that in hindsight I think would be hideous.

When it comes to fashion, do you think you've got it or nah? (Full disclosure - I'm currently thinking I lean more towards nah)

And let's talk fashion styles:

Which of the SATC women are you?

Which of the GG women are you?

What other tv character do you identify with re fashion sense?

I think I've got to give some more thought to it. I want to ensure that my personal style is reflected during our wedding weekend.

I am not a fashionista at all! I would rather be comfortable most the time but also a little elegant or timeless. I don't buy a lot of "fashion" pieces because I would be throwing things out every few months which is a waste of money and time.

As of late I dress like a bag lady in long cardigans and usually dark colours lol. I like to go for timeless outfits, with very little "fast fashion" pieces.

I’m super glam and dressy. I love going out because I love dressing to go out. I just got a new pair of glasses for the first time in like four years and specifically got a super fashionable black and white marble slight cat eye pair. I’m actually going out tonight to celebrate my FHs birthday so I’m excited to dress up for that!

As far as characters go I really don’t watch tv (I don’t have cable so there’s that) but Riverdale’s Veronica Lodge is my style like 50% of the time, the other 50% I have my white leather jacket and some black jeans on.

I am not into fashion at all! Couldn’t even tell you which tv character I’m closest to. If it’s comfy and it fits, I buy it

Oooh fun question!! I always describe myself as preppy because my husband is crazy preppy and we both very much grew up in the golf & country club lifestyle - but my actual clothing style leans way more glam and shows my New Jersey roots! Smiley shame

My love for all things sequins definitely came through in my wedding decor as well!

“Librarian chique” - we could make it a thing.😆

Another member posted a photo of her dress and asked for suggestions of bridesmaid dress styles that would compliment it. Nobody made fun of my suggestion (and I don’t expect that they would), but when I read the other replies I thought they seemed a lot of fashion forward and/or sophisticated than what I had suggested.

And then I started thinking about it and created this post.

I wear mostly black but love colour. I don’t think my wedding dress will be white and I’ve promised my mother and FH that I won’t wear black...so I may go with an actual colour (yellow? purple?), or an ivory. And basically any shade/version of white makes me self conscious so I understand your pov but I say screw it - you rock your white with confidence and I promise to try to do the same! #insolidarity 💪🏾

    Hi all!

I’ve been thinking about my question - I definitely choose comfort above everything and try to find styles that compliment my shape and have a playful/whimsical personality.

That being said - I love certain peices from a number of characters’ warddobes, from Claire & Huxtable, Freddy Brooks (A Different World), Olivia Pope from Shondaland, Blanche from Golder Girls, and even Charlotte from SATC.

Definitely not a fashionista, but I love crisp Jacquie O lines, and would say that the Mod 60’s in my favourite era for fashion (Think classic movies like “To Sir With Love” or “Paris Blues”)

So this was and is a good exercise for me in these early stages of planning.

Definitely not a fashionista in the least. I am a trend-follower more than a trendsetter. I don't love to shop, so I just buy what I think looks good on me. I have not watched either of those shows, so definitely couldn't tell you which character I am.

What BM dresses did you suggest? Do you have a picture?

I don't know what my style is. I think my fashion sense relates to Jessica Jones or Darlene (Roseanne). Haha. I have a collection of dorky glasses that I rotate through, bright auburn hair, and I usually wear black, a fitted leather jacket and jeans. I do love to dress up as well, but I stick to a strict colour palette of blue, green, black, grey. My bridesmaids are wearing black and I'm a little jealous, I hate how I look in white....

I have my own style, so im not incredibly into fashion trends. i love easygoing, casual & athletic looks, but i also make a habit of dressing up for date nights with my FH.

I’m definitely not fashionable! I wear what I like and what’s comfortable! I don’t really watch tv, so I can’t really give you a personality I identify with. And it’s perfectly reasonable to want your style reflected in your wedding, even if that means “hideous” bridesmaid dresses!
