Essential or Extra: Videography?

Extra for me but it is very popular.

Essential, if you can make it happen - A friend of ours did it for free. I am so grateful for that video. The ceremony was a blur and I love being able to go back and relive it - especially since every part of our ceremony was original and written for us. We joked through the whole thing and it is just joyful to watch. I don't care that it isn't professional - I'm just glad we got the words and the reactions.

This is an extra for us for sure. I would love it if it was given to us but we are not going to have it in our budget.

Extra. Luckily we’re able to fit it into our budget. Decided to go with 4hrs of videography to get our ceremony and a little of the reception!

Extra. My FH's dad use to do videography for weddings as an extra job during the summer and was pretty good at it. My FH and I agreed though: No matter how good the videographer, the people in the video are not actors - they are family and friends - most of which are not use to being on camera. For this reason, it will feel like a home movie to us. A professional and beautiful one, but one all the same...and we never watch them. We'd rather spend the money on photos we actually will look at and use.

For those who want videography though, you do you! :-)

Depends on each couples situation. For me it's essential cause my mother can't survive a 30 hours flight to my wedding. I am willing to cut other expenses and allocate the fund for videographer so she would be able to see the wedding. Pictures couldn't capture the moment as much as video would.

Extra that I would really, really love to have but probably won't. Photos are essential and I'm willing to pay good money for them, but I can't justify the cost of videography.

Extra. I don’t like watching myself on video! Haha

100% extra. This is above and beyond our budget, and we can get videos of important moments from our guests and their phones.

Extra, we might just DIY videography for the ceremony.

Extra for sure, it's nice but we don't NEED it

Videography: Extra. Photography: Essential. You can always look back at pictures. Nobody looks back at videos as they’re time consuming. Quality also changes as the years go by, so video may become useless. Think about how many people who will videotape on their phone, free video footage captured!

Essential since memories will be looked after years and by family who hadn't attend the wedding.

Extra. These are soo expensive! It would be nice to look at, but I cannot justify the cost at all. It is basically the cost of another photographer.

Extra! And we are not doing it. Just a cost that will be wasted I believe. I'm more of a photography person and so if my fiance. We much prefer having photos around the house and such.

Extra - Thinking back to my parents' wedding video, I don't think they've watched it in the last 20 years. That being said, I've definitely gone through their wedding photos a tonne, as well as my grandparents' wedding photos!

Essential IMO, even if it is off of somebody's phone I want to have the moment we become man and wife on video.
