Essential or Extra: Getting Ready Pictures?

I think both, extra as a cost for your photographer to do that as it may add extra time but essential enough that you and your girls could take random shots of getting ready

I feel like they are an extra, but they worked into our timeline for photography so we are doing them! But I could live without it if needed.

Extra, however my photographer does not charge by the hour so we will do these.

This is one my FH and I are a split on as Essential/Extra. He sees it as an extra and I as an essential. Where we are skipping videography and putting some of that in the photography budget and where a lot of the photographer wedding packages we looked to cover the whole day include it anyway, it's kind of a moot point and probably going to wind up happening anyway.

Extra. Photography is one aspect I am not willing to cheap out on, but if I'm paying for a certain amount of time to have the photographer there, I'm not going to waste it on getting ready. I can see why some people enjoy them though and totally get why some people would consider them essential. For me, I'm not particularly girly and was never the type that loved getting ready as a group and all that stuff so these pictures wouldn't really be any fun for me and would proably just feel annoying to deal with when I'm trying to get ready. I have some friends though who love that kind of stuff and I totally get why it would be important to them.

Extra. We did do them because we opted for the 10 hour package but I was more interested in pictures of us all dressed up!

Extra. I like the idea of getting ready privately with just a few select people.

Extra for me, I'd rather get details of our ceremony venue before the guests arrive. However, might get a few shots of each group getting ready. (putting on the final touches)

Extra for me, however, it's a nice touch. I'm still doing it.

It was a nice addition but my photographer gave the time to me for free

Essential as moments may pass over time and the perfect time for family portraits as the time after never seems to roll around for one and others want to be in the shot too.

Extra, I’ll be skipping them. I want to just relax not worry about getting loads of pictures

I am still undecided on this. We will only have our photographer for 8 hours ( possibility of extending for an additional fee each hour) so it will depend how early we are doing our first look photos.

I guess I'm the odd one out here... I don't think they're essential at all lol. I'm not doing them but to each their own

Essential. But instead of paying extra to have them professionally done and extend the photographers time, my girls and I will take silly pictures on our phones.

Essential... HOWEVER I couldn’t justify paying the photographer to come early so she came at 2:00pm. Not toooo many getting ready photos as we were mainly ready by there, BUT my sister-in-law is a photgrapher (and in the wedding party) so she was snapping photos the whole time!

I wouldn't call them essential, but I definitely want them! We have our photographer for a full day with no time limit so we might as well! So these would be an extra, and I'm loving them!

Essential. I love looking at them - I want to see my groom with his gent's!

I'm not doing them, our ceremony will be around 10.30 / 11 and so we have to get up quite early to get ready as is, but my main reason is that I know I'll feel really uncomfortable and I know at least one of the girls in my bridal party (only have 3) feels the same about it. So yea, I do think they're cute and all but it's just not for me

For me its Essential! Theres so many emotions happening when getting ready I want them all on film!

(I'm having a brunch wedding, and want to take some sunset photos after the party is done at Peggy's Cove, so I'm not having a photographer at that time, we'll be getting ready extremely early, I'm sure no one in my party will be anything but grumpy until after the 5th cup of coffee.

I don't want any photos of me getting ready, maybe candid by us (the wedding party). I dislike those hanging dress photos a lot, as the abstract "ring in shoe" and weird artsy photos of the accessories, it just feels like a waste to me.

Essential. close friends and family laughing together is the whole point of this special day.

Essential - The whole day is going to be a blur, I'm sure of it. So it'll be nice to have pictures of important moments of the day.

Essential! I just love the look of these pictures and on top of that it's the last couple pictures that you will have before being married!! And you don't want to waste a good makeup and hair day transformation!
