Engagement shoot

Meghan, on December 10, 2017 at 10:11 Posted in Wedding fashion 0 11
I’m stuck on what to wear for our engagement shoot. I wanted to have them done outside but it’s getting close to winter now so it’s going to be cold! Did anybody else do outside winter pictures? What did you end up wearing?

I think if you have a nice winter coat with some cute accessories it will look great.

Snowy engagement photos are legit my favourite!!! Our photographer told us to do a lot of research on different outfits for the type of weather we would be shooting in and to choose colours that complimented each other. We did a shoot in the summer as we wanted to be in the water (my favourite place) so he went with a light blue polo shirt and I did a navy coloured dress.

Same question here. I was thinking something super casual, although I am afraid that if the session happens outdoors we will freeze in Edmonton!

We did our engagement photos in March 2017. We wore winter outfits and just had someone hold our coats for the actual pictures and then put them back on to move around.

You could wear a sweater dress like the one below and pair it with tall boots, thick stockings, and tall socks. Add in a scarf or use a blanket as a prop and you'll be good to go! Smiley smile

Check out Pinterest! There are some cute winter outfits there. I haven't had to do any but will be doing a solo photo shoot outdoors next week! Oh but you can always jump in your vehicle between shots if it is too cold.

We did a mini session in the fall. It was close to negative temperatures the day we went and we were both in short sleeves. We threw on sweaters in between a few shots.

I've also been in a wedding in March in Northern Alberta and it was close to -30 and we got pictures taken outside in our short, sleeveless dresses!!! I don't recommend that! Luckily, they put us on the side of the building where we were protected from the wind.

I have seen some nice photos with people wearing jackets. Even something like a suit jacket would be a little warmer. And then you can throw on a blanket for a few seconds in between shots.

Also, going places where you will be protected from wind (behind buildings or a tree) as opposed to out in the open somewhere.

I would also look into a greenhouse as they would have plants this time of year and you might be able to fake outdoor pictures. You would probably have to pay though to use it.
