Dress still isn’t here

So I ordered my dress last March 2021. Was told delivery would be Dec- Feb but most likely February. I called on February 1 and the store was a bit rude- telling me not to call, they would call me when it got here and not to stress. They told me “the last week of February at the latest”. It’s now March 12. I called Thursday and Friday and left voicemails with no return call. I called today again, no answer.
While I understand there are delays they cannot control, I’m a bit turned off that they told me not to call them. Also I visited two other bridal stores recently for my bridesmaids upcoming wedding and they both told me this store has a bad habit of making brides pay in full and not ordering their dresses for months. Both stores also told me there is no delays with the supplier I ordered from. I’m a bit concerned. And I’m a bit mad that they’re not even returning the call to attempt some customer service. I need to know if my dress, shape wear and current headpiece are a match for this dress and we’re 96 days away…..

I guess my question is- how aggressive would you be with calling/following up? Dress was paid in full when ordered.

    I’m so sorry! I really hope when they call tomorrow they either have a solution or offer you a full refund. What was the dress/style # you originally wanted? If it’s discontinued is there anything on still white etc?

    They sent a similar one from a different collection in the wrong size. It fits completely different and looks horrible. Not wearing it.


    I called every retailer in Canada and 5 in the US and no one has the dress. The owner of a store in Alberta told me the dress was discontinued prior to me even ordering it.Owner called me yesterday as I had left a message at the store after my try on. She didn’t sound too upset. Said she’d call Monday morning after “investigating”.

    Update: owner did call on Monday- as promised- and let me know the dress was en route and would be delivered Wednesday- and I would be called the “moment it arrives”…..
    Still waiting.

    At the price of the dresses and how long the shop has been around I didn’t even think about looking at reviews, lesson learned I guess!


    Every store I went to after was a way better experience! I ended up going the custom dress route in the end though.

    I’m so sorry you had that experience. That’s beyond terrible. I didn’t have many great experiences to be honest, so, I just sort of jumped at the positive one. I should have looked into it a bit more, so I suppose that’s my own fault.
    I hope you had a more positive/successful experience elsewhere?

    That was the first store I went to try on dresses and it was such a horrible experience Smiley sad
    Right away I was told they had nothing like what I was looking for (even though I just wanted to try all the styles since it was my first appointment) and that because I’m fairly thin they wouldn’t have anything that would fit. Everything was discontinued so I couldn’t even try much. What I did try they didn’t even clip to help me see the fit. 😭

    As a worst case scenario if they aren't able to get the dress in and you can get a refund - check out Feather & Pearl / Second Dance bridal in St. Catherine's. They have consignment bridal gowns that are up to 70% off retail (some brand new with tags) and you can buy them off the rack so no waiting for one to come in. ...but hopefully it doesn't come to that!

    The owner did call today as promised. My dress is not here. It is apparently at a warehouse waiting to ship to store, and they have reached out to have the dress shipped- but had not had a reply yet at the time she called me. Was promised that she will call Monday with an update and “as soon as it arrives” I can come in and try it on.

    There was no real explanation other than it was not ordered when I purchased and paid for it…. They ordered it later…. And she did apologize for the experience but did not apologize for their actions orLack thereof. I said my piece. I hope they take the opportunity to do better as this progresses along. The girl I spoke to a few days ago did offer me her personal cell, which was nice. I declined- as it is honestly not her issue, and I felt that was so unfair that she felt she would have to do that. I appreciated it so very much, but I couldn’t. She did tell me the option was there going forward- so if it does get bad I may go that route.
    And yes. You are correct.
    Praying to god that since I’ve been a bit of a pain in the ass, it may keep me on their radar. Fingers crossed.

    I hope you get a response asap! Out of curiousity - is the shop Promises & Lace in Burlington? They have a lot of google reviews talking about this exact situation so they came to mind when I saw you are in Hamilton. I'm so sorry you've had such a negative experience. 😔

    No not really.
    I was finally able to reach someone at the store who wasn’t able to tell me much (other than confirm my dress is not here) but was apologetic. I am supposed to be hearing from the owner first thing tomorrow morning. So. We shall see what happens.

    Some companies are pretty bad at responding unfortunately. Your the bride though they should give you a response.

    Yes that is the plan. They only have one day a week that they are open late- so, that will have to be the day. Pain in the butt that they’re in another city…. I have my MOH and mom calling as well, so maybe we will get some results

    Darn, I agree with everyone else if they aren’t answering try going to the store to ask what is up cause you have been patient long enough, if they don’t budge ask to maybe get a refund on your dress… but that’s the last resort. Continue to bug them. Your dress is important and if they aren’t doing anything about it then look else where and get your money back somehow…

    I did try to send an email to ****@************.** and it didn't bounce back to me, so it may be worth sending an email to that address and seeing it you get anywhere before you have the time to drop in on them Smiley smile

    LOL No I get it- I wanted heads to roll…but… I’m a gal that goes right to the “heads will roll” quickly- so I thought I’d pop in here and see how unreasonable I was being- but it turns out not very unreasonable at all 🤣 I really don’t want to go to another bridal place and rush it, as this is already my second dress due to the first one being ruined through covid at another bridal store and not receiving a refund- I had to eat a $2100 loss….so..I don’t really have the room to order anything else honestly. It’s this or Naked on the day of. Legit.

    It’s ok, thank you. I’m sure others have dealt with worse- it’s just things have been falling apart this last week in regards to the wedding….so I was hoping my dress was the one thing I could count on!

    Hey Kara,
    I figured out where you went for your dress - I am still looking for a way to contact them with email, but I did do a dive into their reviews on google, and sadly, you aren't the first person this has happened to in the last year. One of the brides posted that she was able to get her money back for her dress, in full, by dealing with the credit card company she used to purchase the dress - so that may be a smart place to start...

    Heads would be rolling if I were in your situation 100% lol - just kidding (somewhat). You are about 3 months out, the dress isn't here, not to mention, there will most definitely be a need for alterations (even if it's just a few minor things) - and the boutique that is supposed to ease your worries and frustration, is instead, making it worse.

    Going off Hank's suggestion to start emailing, do they have social media? Sometimes businesses put actual email addresses into their SM profiles, so you can look into that (or even see if the boutique owner is on LinkedIn - if she is, and her profile isn't private, you may be able to get an email address for her at least).

    If email is not found, I would be going in and refusing to leave until they speak to you, and as others have said, let you know what their plans are if the dress is not in on time or cutting it close (meaning, they better not charge you for expedited alterations, because of their incompetence).

    Another option, especially if on SM, is to put them on blast, publicly, not via DM (tho you can start messaging there and see if you get any further ahead) - it may not get your dress there, but may kick them towards giving you a refund so you can go elsewhere..

    In the meantime, you may want to see if your dress is available at another location if it's available as a "rush" order, and what that would look like $$ wise, just in case (or if they have a sample in store you can purchase, if condition is perfect or close to).

    I am also pretty good at finding email addresses, though, so if you want to message me the boutique's name, I can try and work my magic.

    Good luck either way and I am so sorry you are dealing with this bs.

    I would definitely be going into the store, because that kind of customer service is so uncalled for. Then they say you shouldn't call they will call you when it's ready, ummmm no thanks. Definitely look into that and have a plan B just incase.

    Oiy, then I wouldn't bother with the inquiry form (since you can't get a record of it unless they email you back). Go straight to the store and sort things out. Sorry you're dealing with this.
