Do you need music for an outdoor ceremony?

Kristina, on April 19, 2018 at 19:14 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 15
We are having an outdoor wedding on the beach and I'm not sure if we need processional music. My dj charges separately ($250) for the ceremony if we want it done. The ceremony will be maybe 15 minutes and so I don't think it's really worth it but my family thinks it might be weird without. Thoughts? Has anyone done an outdoor ceremony without music?

Have a recording of soft music ready for the processional if you don't go with the DJ. If you want to entertain your guests with music, have the DJ play the songs.

We are having music played at our ceremony to help make it all flow a little better and keep it from just being talking for the 15-20 mins.

Most weddings I have been to have had some music during the ceremony. Even if you have someone with a wireless speaker who can play some instrumental music at a low volume just for the ceremony ?

I think it’s nice to have, and it can be as simple as an iTunes/Spotify playlist plugged into a sound system or outdoor speaker.

Or a live musician or two of its in your budget.

My Dj has included this in his price. Which was nice. He is going to be getting a separate battery pack to play music with so he doesn’t have to lug everything. Even though it’s in the same venue that would be a lot more work.

We won't have any music at my ceremony. We are getting married at a natural site (A waterfall) and we don't want to take away from the natural beauty and tranquility of it.

We are also having an outdoor ceremony and having music. We are not having a DJ though so we will be putting someone else in charge of it. We are renting speakers and will be playing songs from spotify. We have a song for the processional, a song for me, while we sign, and recessional, as well as a couple prelude and postlude songs. I find music is nice to have and a good indicator to guests that something is about to happen!

Considering you have an outside venue, I highly recommend going with the DJ. As someone who has worked professionally in the entertainment business and has sound experience, you really want to make sure your quality will be well-amplified if the music is really important to you. Because beaches are often open, windy and varying degrees of humidity, they're not the best places to amplify sound so a BOSE might be too quiet. If the DJ comes with his own system, I'd say do it.

I think it would be worth it! If you want to save money you could always just use a good quality Bluetooth speaker if you or someone you know has one.

I think it will be helpful to your guests to know when the processional is starting. Your DJ may also be able to provide sound amplification, beaches can be noisy! If you have room in the budget I think it's probably a good investment

I think music really makes a ceremony. The good thing about going with a DJ is they will bring speakers, set-up, and it allows your guests to focus on the ceremony instead of starting and stopping the music. $250 is also an AMAZING price for the ceremony music too! Our DJ wants to charge $750 to do the ceremony music for us (outside and at a different location than our reception), so we're still debating it.

We’re doing an outdoor ceremony. I’m getting my brother to play keyboard, and we’re also going to have a speaker with an iPod hooked up to it. But it think it’s up to you. You might feel awkward walking in silence.

I am not having an outdoor wedding but my cousin did not hire a DJ for her outdoor ceremony but had a family member just press play over speakers.
