Do you have a wedding planner or day-of coordinator?

Joey, on May 21, 2018 at 08:05 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 12

Have you hired some planning help? Anyone to take some of the planning burden off your plate? What tasks have you delegated to them? How has the experience of working with them been so far?

The venue we booked with comes with a day of coordinator, but we also booked a full wedding planner to take the burden off our plate. I have to admit that even before we started planning, I was already stressed at the thought of all the things we have to do to make it a smooth wedding. It does not help that we both have busy work schedules where on his busy months, he sometimes work more than 12 hours a day, while I have the traditional nursing line of 2 weeks of night shifts and then 2 weeks of days (12 hour shifts).

It has been one month since we signed a contract with the wedding planner and so far, we have accomplished quite a bit. We have already booked a few vendors and the team is currently putting together an inspiration board for us based on the pictures we sent them. We have come a long way because if it was not for them, I would still be clueless as to what theme I want.

We have been communicating with the lead planner the most, as well as the owner of the company. Both of them respond back to our e-mails and the lead planner would call to check up on me after a vendor appointment. They also buckle down when it comes to reaching out to vendors and reminding them to send them our contracts so they can save it for us. Mind you, we have already saved more than what we paid for the wedding planner all thanks to their negotiation skills. What's more, on the day of the wedding, there will be three wedding planners attending - 2 professionals and 1 student, so combine that with the day of coordinator and we are set. We have about 200 guests, so we need all the help to make sure the day goes smoothly.

We (or more importantly I) decided we needed a full wedding planner. So far she is amazing. I just don't have time during the day to look into vendors and don't want to loose all my free time this summer to wedding planning.
Our venue is about 4 hours away from where we live so she is nicely located in the middle and will take care of all our setting up and take down for the day at the ceremony and the reception locations. She may also do our flowers

We have a day of coordinator but she takes over planning for the last month. She has all of our contracts in hand and deals with all of the vendors. She also creates our day of timeline and ensures everything runs according to plan. She has definitely made the last month of planning much less stressful than I anticipated.

With our venue we are lucky enough to have an Event Co-ordinator and I have to say she's a godsend. She has been so wonderful with everything from venue questions, decor choices and she will ultimately be setting everything up for our big day. I can drop everything off up to a week in advance and she keeps it in her office at the venue and we'll do a final planning walkthough at the rehearsal.

I am so happy to have her and have the reassurance that someone else will be looking over all the details and any day-of issues that may arise.

We did everything ourselves and/or asked some family and friends for help.

I'm doing all the planning alone, but one of my colleagues generously donated her day of service (which she does on the side). She will be at my reception venue during my ceremony as a leasoin between me and the vendors. She is truly a God send!

My venue has a coordinator included. She asks me questions to keep me on track, makes suggestions when I look lost, and generally is there when I feel lost.

Our venue owner and her daughter are certified wedding planners so they offer month of coordination as an extra. So that's what we will do!

We have a day of coordinator with the venue. There’s two there and I prefer working with one of them more than the other, and I think she’s going to end up being ours but we’ll see. Either way it’s nice having someone who knows the venue who can do keep things running smoothly!

We interviewed 6 planners for day of coordination and ended up choosing one of them for full planning instead bc she impressed us so much.

We’re planning a destination (cross country) wedding weekend and look forward to start working with her in a few weeks.
