DIY or Buy? - Bouquets & Bouts

Joey, on April 16, 2018 at 08:50 Posted in DIY 0 41

We want to know what wedding projects you're taking on by yourself, and which you are leaving up to the professionals.

Speaking of florists, will florists supply the bouquets and boutonnieres, or are you going to try your hand at putting them together?

My MOH is a silk flower queen so I'll be enlisting her help with our bouquets and bouts for Dads. We haven't fully decided on real or silk, but either way it'll be gal craft day!

Thanks! I looked at Michael's and they're not bad, but one of my bridesmaids recommended checking out Alibaba.com, so I think I'll go that route! Just seeing what everyone else is up to in case I miss a killer spot!

Ive got artificial flowers getting made for us. Ive bought most of everything second hand off of Facebook marketplace. we made our own invitation on photoshop, we are getting hugs & Kisses chocolates and putting them in little boxes that we are putting together. Not alot of DIY, but definitely not so much new items and mostly things we can sell after

I'm going to try to make my own bouquets. If I don't like how it turns out then I will buy it. The boutonnieres I was looking at was $10-$13 so we are going buy it.

We're getting married in a greenhouse so they have to do the bouquets (no outside seeds) and for the guys we're just doing cute floral lapel pins that I bought online.

My bridesmaid have all offered to help with DIY, so they've all been assigned a task. For our wedding we are DIYing our bouquets (ordered flowers from House of Silk), and our centre pieces, and aisle decoration. The boutonnieres we are purchasing from Moores.

DIY! I'm having my bouquet made of paper flowers and I'm making the bridesmaids bouquets and boutonnières out of artificial flowers I got from the dollar store and Michaels (on sale!).
Heres a picture of the bouquet for the bridesmaid

I’m so picky and worried all the time, originally I wanted fake flowers to avoid wilting and know what I was getting but I browsed a lot of sites with mixed reviews. My mom eventually convinced me to go with a florist. I love the look of real flowers and this way I know what I’m getting quality wise Smiley smile

Leaving it to the pros... probably. So far I'm thinking, keep it simple, order them. The only flowers we are ordering are the bridal bouquet, bridesmaids bouquets and possibly boutonnieres (my FH is considering silk flowers & pocket squares), so I'm looking at Costco. Beautiful, simple white roses.

However my FMIL used to manage a flower shop, she is extremely skilled at floral arrangements. She offered her services, if I take her to a flower wholesaler and purchase the flowers... But coordinating that the week before the wedding, and adding that pressure to her, I'm not sure I want to do it.

I will make my final decision after meeting with the professional florist.

My FH sister used to own a Funky Petals flower store. So she is doing all of the bouquets and boutonnieres for me. I just need to purchase all the flowers and materials

Planning on making them myself, similar to the centrepieces! I'm quite nervous/excited about the whole process!
