Decorations

Sarah, on April 8, 2018 at 19:18 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 12
So I'm 8 months to my wedding date I'm just curious on when everyone started to really start getting all the decorations and finalizing all the smaller details like the timeline and the bridal accessories and the bridesmaid accessories and all that

I did everything all at once and all the time as there was only 9 months and 5 days between when we got engaged and our wedding.

I've been buying decor since we got engaged. Just little things here and there so I didn't have to run around like crazy all at the same time. I also watched for Sales on things I needed throughout the year.

My time line has been mostly done since about 6 months out but I've just FINALIZED it at 3 months in advance. I have a few things I'll need to tweak, but it's pretty much done.

I started gathering Decorations as soon as I picked the date (October 25, 2018) back in January Now we are April and I have almost everything (70-80 %) It is a huge weight knowing it is all downstairs. We also camp alot so it will be nice to be able to enjoy the summer. I also ordered a bunch of stuff off Wish.... still waiting for it to come takes at least a month.

I don't know if you've heard of AliExpress, but I found that's a great place to get decorations and stuff for super cheap - it is even cheaper than Amazon (that's my other source). The only problem with that is that you should order your decorations with at least like 6 months in advance, as things take a long time to ship from China and in case there are damaged goods you can get replacements. I'm 6 months away and I have started buying for that specific reason.

You can plan ahead as much as you like however details will change. That's a given. I planned early but changed my mind on most things! Hahah Decor colours , cake , dress etc! So if you are ok accepting change and are ok with changing details as you go then I say plan ahead. Keep in mind though that some vendors will have time to devote to your big day, when it gets closer to the actual date. So you will deal with communication delays etc. Details and finalizing really started to pick up at the 60 day mark. Now we are 40 days out and we have meetings with everyone to finalize. Hope this helps!! Smiley smile

I started before I was officially engaged lol. He had the ring so I figured it gave me permission to start. I joined a VarageSale and Facebook group and every time something that was a good deal that went with what I was going for came up I bought it. I highly recommend this as it’s been so easy.

I've started already and I'm 13 months from my wedding date, never too early! Plus budget wise, it's a lot easier on the bank to give yourself extra time

Now is a good time to start! I was waiting for sales for some stuff but now that I’m three months out I’m just buying it because I don’t want to leave it any longer! My other problem was where to store everything but, it’s still worth it to start now I think!

Yeah that's how I keep thinking. I need a bunch of winter stuff so I'm probably going to have to get most of it online I'm just scared to order online and then having to end up going and getting something else cuz it's not exactly what I want to or something I'm not sure but I guess I probably should start soon

I would suggest starting as soon as you can. You can get details done quicker and will save time and money instead of doing things closer to the date. When you leave it closer to the date, you may be scrambling to get last minute details and may forget some. If you start now, you can check things off the list and take your time. Also better to spend the money and spread it out than at around the same time, if that makes sense.
