Hey lovely Brides! We're just getting ready to get our invites sent out. Just ironing out the last bit of wording. Did anyone write what type of bar they're having on their invites? Also for Brides having a multiple entrée sit down dinner or a buffet for that matter. How did you list allergies or restrictions on your rsvp card? I currently have boxes for chicken, beef, fish and allergies. Should I be writing just allergies or should I be writing allergies/restrictions?? Thanks for everyone's help! 3 months to go!😍

Thanks! Yeah my maid of honour actually has a severe olive allergy so we've made sure the hotel is being diligent with any allergies.

I actually just did my invitations. I didn't list any bar information on it. I have a wedding website and I have the information on there about my wedding having a cash bar, also my e-mail and phone number for the guests to contact me if they have any dietary restrictions or allergys.

That's funny!! I really didn't want to go back to work after the wedding, plus with all of our pets (2 cats and a dog) it's easier on the people watching them to just keep them after the wedding, so we're leaving the 2 days after the wedding. I wish there was a bit more space so I could get excited about it separately, but oh well! Where are you cruising? I went on a cruise for the first time last year (Bahamas) it was GREAT!!

In our family people just assume open bar. Our invitations will just include Adults, kids and allergies on the RSVP because everyone is having the same meal. I think it's nice of you to put allergies on the invites. Being someone who has allergies , I like that people know before hand so they can make arrangements. I hate being "that person" who has to tell the caterer at dinner! Alot of facilities do a great job of being on top of that now! Make sure to post your invites when you are done so we can see! We had 75 people and had a food and beverage minimum that we had to meet so it worked out to 3 drink tickets per person plus a glass of champagne for everyone. We also did unlimited drinks for the wedding party. They only charged us for the drink tickets that were used so we were still under the minimum. We liked the drink ticket system vs doing a hosted bar (where you pay up to a certain limit) because we thought it was more fair. There's always those people that have 3 drinks in the time it takes someone else to have one so we figured that way they all technically got the same number of drinks and if they didn't want them, they could give them away. Some people have recommended having a bowl or basket that people could put extra drink tickets in so they're up for grabs.

Haha cool! Your wedding is actually 4 days after my birthday. We're waiting until June to head on our honeymoon. We're going on a cruise, so the one we wanted is in June. How about yourself? I'm happy we have a couple weeks to wind down before heading on our honeymoon.

Thanks for the awesome advice! I'm going to see if we can squeak a consumption bar into our budget instead of a twoonie bar. Think I would much prefer that. From what everyone has suggested, I think I'm going to leave the bar stuff off the invite. Thanks again!
Our wedding isn't too far after yours. May 20th for us.

Consumption just means the couple picks up the tab at the end of the night, so they SHOULD be able to do this. You have to take a look at your group though, if you have a good portion of your guests that are family and not big drinkers, they'll likely have maybe a few drinks in the course of the evening. It all depends on your venue's prices and your group (and how many guests you have). Toonie bar is a better option than full cash bar for sure though! I would also let your VIPs (bridesmaids, groomsmen, parents, etc) spread the word for you (as well as on the website). Hopefully no one should be caught off guard that way.

    My date is April 29

That's awesome! Lol I really need to make my wedding website. How many people did you have at your wedding? We have 250 in our guest list. Did you just pre-pay drinks with tickets before hand?

I'm not even sure if our venue does consumption bars. I'll have to check that, thanks for the idea. We're having our reception at a hotel so right now with our guest list it was priced out at $7000 😳 Lol my budget is maybe $4000 for alcohol.
I'm not super keen on listing it on my invites to be honest, just didn't want guests to be caught off guard. We didn't make a wedding website yet haha. I'm going to definitely look into a consumption bar though. Thanks!
And super exciting! What's your wedding date?

We had planned on doing a cash bar so we included it in a FAQs section on our wedding website. (Tastefully of course) We ended up being able to do drink tickets and I think it worked out that no one had to buy drinks! For the RSVP, we put a couple lines so they could list dietary restrictions.

Can you do consumption bar instead of open bar (can often be cheaper for most people)? If not, I would suggest having a FAQ section on your website and have the information there. I personally just wouldn't want to list that on my invitations, but it's more accepted on a wedding website.

And I hear you! Mine's in 2.5 months... coming so fast!

Thanks! It's coming quick! So much to do lol! As I said in Lindsey's response our wedding budget shrunk a bit so we're doing a twoonie bar. Our social circle is about half and half with drinkers and non-drinkers. I went to a wedding last year with a cash bar and it wasn't listed on the invite and I heard a lot of people grumbling after the wedding as it's generally expected to be an open bar. Some of the people are invited to our wedding has well. Lol not sure what to do. Thanks for the dietary restrictions wording. I think I'll put that down. :-)

Oh I didn't even think about listing our wedding email, thanks! We had originally planned on a open bar, but I ended up on sick leave this year unfortunately so our wedding budget shrunk a little bit. We're doing a twoonie bar instead. Neither one of us are big drinkers and the alcohol bill would have been the biggest thing next to our food costs. Having the reception at a hotel lol.

I would not list any bar information on your invite, most people just assume open bar, but it does kind of depend on your social circle.

I just put a line for dietary restrictions on my RSVP cards. I also have a line on our wedding website to contact us with any dietary restrictions. I went with "dietary restriction" because I feel like that covers preferences and allergies.

3 months... so exciting!! Smiley xd

For allergies/ restrictions we might have a note to please email us (at our wedding email) so we can accommodate.
Most wedding I've been to open bar is expected, so no reference on the invite or the website. What are you planning on doing?
