Costs of set up / take down

Lydia, on April 8, 2018 at 18:34 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 6
Hi all,

We've got an early morning wedding and as we won't have access to the venue the evening before I'm a bit worried about setting up all the decoration, chairs and whatever else is necessary. Our wedding is still far away (not until June next year) but I'd really like to know what I should think off in terms of costs if I would get someone to do it.
I had also post this on the Greater Vancouver wedding Facebook page, but I just get replies with links to whichever company is helping them or who could help us out. I am not interested in asking someone for a quote, because I'm pretty sure I would end up in their contact list and keep on being recontacted if I wanna hire them and I won't feel good about that (I do understand it divers from venue to venue and definitely divers between cities and provinces, but since it's so far off I'm really just looking for a general idea) Any people that can share how much they're paying for it?

Oh and also (I will also ask my venue of course but I'm leaving it for now since they're pretty bad at getting back to me) is your venue end time including cleaning up? Or do the people just need to be out of it but you can still clean up after? We got our venue to 4 o'clock so I'm really wondering if I have to get everyone out at like 3 or something in order to still clean everything up

The set up and tear down depend on your venue. When we were venue hunting we had an assortment of answers, some said that Set up was same day, and tear down and removal of decor had to be done by 2AM.

The venue we have takes our decor the day in advance, and they set it up day of. They also do the tear down and we just need to pick it up by Tuesday end of day.

They do not do the decor or centrepieces, we are still in charge of that. But, that is all we have to clean up at the end of the night too. We can leave all the tables, chairs, linens for them to clean up.

Thank you! It's handy that its included ^^ I do know that they'll put together chairs / tables / plates and all that for us at well at the reception, but I don't think they do that for the ceremony.
Do they also do your centrepieces and decor for you included in your price :o?

    Thanks! That's very helpful!
Yea we got similar and I can imagine indeed that it's a bit stressful and short on time to get everything fixed within that timeline ><

The cost is included with our venue for set up and tear down but we looked at a venue who did $3/chair and $5/table. They told us we had it from 9am - 4pm and that included set up and tear down time for the ceremony so it was a huge crunch for time cleaning up after the ceremony was done

Our venue is charging us $3 a chair for set up for the ceremony. The reception set up is included in our fee so I can’t comment on that price.

It is my understanding that you have to be out of your venue at the end time stated in your contract, not just starting to clean up. Their staff will have to lock up so you will have to be gone by the end of their shift.
