City Hall?

Sabrina, on June 3, 2018 at 16:40 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 8
My fiancé and I have been engaged since January 2017 and are planning on saying I Do in September 2020 (on the exact day of our 10th anniversary). We are going to have a small wedding but are struggling with whether we should have a City Hall wedding followed by a reception or a Small Venue Wedding. Any tips, insight or advice would be MUCH appreciated! 😘

    It really depends on you!

Are you okay inviting only your immediate family to City Hall? There is often a limit on the number of guests you can have with you at City Hall so you may have to exempt people who matter to you in order to accommodate that, whereas a small venue may be able to accommodate just the right amount of people, and you could pay one fee (depending on the venue) and have your reception to follow.

Are you okay not walking down an aisle? If it isn't important to you, then by all means go with City Hall!

It all depends on what you dream of.

Yes, city hall is inexpensive, true, but if you always wanted to walk down the aisle, dont compromise.

We are very intimate people, so a small 60 people wedding suited us. It all depends on you guys as a couple. Thats the most important part Smiley smile

Take a look at venues and City Hall! I think once you see the space, it will determine whether or not you want the wedding there.

I have had 2 cousins get married in city hall and just immediate families dinner followed after.

An alternative that can work if chosen, get married with immediate family at city hall and have a big reception after a month.

To save less on the cost for reception, don't mention the word "wedding". The cost will be higher. Rather say anniversay and you will see a huge difference for sure. Hope this helps in. Any matter.

Before making your decision, I'd look into City Hall's rules/regulations and see how many guests you are allowed. Some of them asks that you limit your total headcount (including the couple, guests and photographer). So if you're thinking of a very intimate ceremony, followed by a bigger reception, then City Hall might work!

If you're thinking of a bigger ceremony/reception, then I'd definitely look into other venues.

    Hope that helps!
