Card box?

Dani, on September 20, 2017 at 13:05 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 24

What is everyone using to have guests put cards in? I'm trying to find something kind of unique to our themes. We were thinking something video game related or if we put it near the "guestbook" area (we are having fairy lights hang and people will attach wishes and anecdotes to the lights) then it could be ethereal/fairy-esque?

I rented a card box for $30 and it was worth it. My dad saw it and it was nice to for the wedding. Worth to look into if you're receiving cash.

I'm wondering if we should DIY one as well. Were' having a rustic theme and this idea would work perfectly!

I found a vintage wine box that we used for our card box. It worked really well and now we use it as a keepsake box!

One of my friends, Valerie, also had a video game themed wedding and she turned an old Nintendo console into a card box! It was really cool!

We're getting married December 16th and having classy family Christmas styles wedding but in rose gold and purple not red and green. Last year I started to sew stockings for us so we're planning on using them as our "card box". We have the mantle hangers and everything. So now I just need to get my butt in gear and finish making them. Smiley smile

I love it. It was a little more than I would have liked to spend on a card box but I can use it again later at home which makes it even better!

My hubby is building a wooden card box. I found a design on Pinterest that I love and he is actually building it this weekend! I am planning to stain and and have "cards" painted on the front of it. It really fits well with our theme too.

We purchased a glass and gold framed card box from BHLDN that has a section underneath where you can add flowers or pictures. It goes well with our theme.

If you want to go video game themed there are a lot of really fun DIY ideas online!

On Pinterest I've seen mario themed card boxes, pokemon themed, and a Legends of Zelda style treasure chest!

Hmmm, how about a birdhouse instead of birdcage? Or what about a lantern? Or a flower pot or watering can? What about a glass box? Wood box of chest covered in moss? I'm trying to think of fairies and nature (but I'm not very creative!).

Thank you!! I couldn't find this post (I was pretty sure it existed somewhere). Thats a brilliant idea. I love the birdcage but I feel like its overdone as so many people do it. I'm trying to make what has turned into a traditional wedding as anti-traditional as possible (I wanted to have a under 20 person wedding but family made sure it was at least 50...Smiley sad )

We are using a standing bird cage that I found at Home Sense. We spray painted it to match our invitations.

I did mine on the cheap! I got a cardboard box, cut a slit in the top, and wrapped it in pretty paper. My mother was mortified, but it was secure and basically free! You could do something similar and wrap it in gamer-themed paper? Or if you're going the fairy tale route I love Andrea's birdcage idea.

Here are a few ideas from another community thread

We are using a vintage suitcase lined with old newspaper.

Something fairy-like...maybe find an old birdcage and use your fairy lights to wrap around it to tie it in to your theme?
