Bridesmaid dress shopping

Maya, on June 10, 2018 at 17:41 Posted in Wedding fashion 0 10
Hello everyone,

I finally have arranged a day to go bridesmaid dress shopping. I’m letting my girls pick their own dress style but they all will have the same colour. Most of my girls live in Edmonton with me and I was looking for reccomendations of where to buy them from. I was also wondering if there are any online stores that are good to order from. I was thinking we would go try dress styles on at David’s bridal and maybe look at ordering from online. I just am not sure about David’s bridal being the best option. I have 1 bridesmaid who is short and usually normal sizes don’t fit her as she’s very petite I have another who is a bit taller but also petite. The one maid of honour who lives on Vancouver island just had a baby a few months ago. Just looking for peoples suggestions for affordable dresses.

We went shopping so they could find their styles and then I went hunting on KF bridal for similar dresses styles. What colour did your friend order for her wedding?

Most dresses will need alterations no matter where you order them from. Best get your girls to measure themselves and compare with the sizing chart to find their best fit. If you're doing long dresses, guaranteed they will need to be hemmed.

The dresses took about 2 weeks to arrive.

I feel it’s important to let them choose as then it can be something they can wear again later. I would not like it if I had to wear a dress that didn’t suit me and then be stuck with it and not want to wear it again. I think we will make an appointment for David’s bridal to look at styles and then potentially order from online stores.

Thanks I will take a look Smiley smile my biggest worry from ordering online is that it will be too big and will need alterations. Do they say how long it will take to send out the dresses?

So all the girls in our wedding party ordered their dresses from Lulus. I sent them the link to the dress I liked, but kept it open to opinions if they wanted a different dress in the same colour. Also, the girl who placed the order for all of them signed up for the emails, and got 10% off. All costs included (dress, taxes, shipping and brokerage fees) came out to aprox $95 each.

They all like the dress, it cost them all under $100. I would totally recommend checking out Lulus.

We did bridesmaids dresses from David's Bridal both for my best friends wedding last year and mine this summer. I'm 5'0 and petite and was able to find a dress that fit me really well Smiley smile (although if they are doing long dresses she may need to get it hemmed but that will be the case with almost all dresses). It's great you're letting them choose the style because there were definitely some that didn't suit my frame well but others looked great and we were all able to agree on one.

For mine what I've done is pick a colour and let them choose dresses individually so they all have a dress that they wanted but they coordinate through colour (my bridesmaids range from a size 2 to 22 so I knew it was going to be to find one dress style that they all felt comfortable in).

My three bridesmaids all ordered their dresses from a different store. There is a chance that each dress will have a slightly different tinge as they will be made from different rolls. One bridesmaid lives in Ontario and she just found a store that had the same designer and ordered the same colour.

KF Bridal does have a size chart--you do have the option to order a regular size or get it custom ordered. Most of us chose the regular size option (cheaper than the custom made).

Thanks for the suggestion, was there sizing charts from the store you ordered? I just don’t think David’s bridal has much selection and that is why I don’t want to just go there. The other reason I’m considering ordering is that if we go to the other bridal stores my one made of honour on the island may not be able to find a dress the same colour unless we buy it here for her. We also have my fiancé’s sister who will be standing up on her brothers side and she will be getting a black dress to match the suits.

David's is the cheapest from what we found, but not as much variety. We also looked at Pure Bridal, Bridal House, ABC Bridal (who changed their name but you can still look them up as ABC Bridal).

For my friend's wedding, we ordered our dresses from KF Bridal. The dresses are good quality, super long. Took three months for the dresses to arrive but the price was decent and they had a deal with free shipping to Canada. The other thing to note was that the colour swatches they sent were slightly different from the colour of the dress when they arrived. Not a huge difference, and the dress colour was actually closer to the bride's vision than the swatch was. (We actually think they might have sent the wrong colour swatch).
