Thanks Stephanie. I agree that ruching helps to cover up unwanted areas. Anne

I'm the same height and build and i went with a full a-line/almost ball gown dress, and personally, i loved it.

It hid my stomach (which i wanted), and didn't make me look any shorter. That being said though, my upper body is on the smaller side (and i have no boobs), so that played a roll in how my dress looked it.

I'm the same build! Definitely go A-line!

I also found that there's some dresses that have a seam or a belt around waist level.. this cut me off I found so I went without a definite seam in that area.

I would recommend A-line. I'm 4.11 and found that ball gowns made me look "hidden". I also didn't like fit and flare, because the fit part came down almost to my knees when it should be mid-thigh.

Another thing to look for would be corset back and ruching at the front. My dress has both those things and I found it hid my stomach nicely, making it appear flat.
