Are you getting married in your hometown?

Lynnie, on March 5, 2018 at 13:05 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 15

Will you be getting married in the town where you grew up? Or somewhere else?

How did you decided whether or not you'd choose your hometown?

So many people not getting married in their hometown!!

My parents moved when I was in college, so there was no point in getting married where I grew up! My husband's hometown is gorgeous so we got married there instead! Smiley heart

2000km south of where we relocated to. We already picked our venue so it's worth the travel.

Nope, neither of us lives in our hometown anymore, nor do our parents. We are having our reception at the location of our first dating anniversary though.

We definitely did not get married in our home town.

Not a chance were we willing to pay Canmore wedding prices lol.

We opted for where my family has a cabin and we saved ourselves a ton of money!

I’m getting married in my hometown, my fiancé’s hometown is 2 hours away, both in Southern Ontario. We currently live 18 hours away in Northern Ontario

I'm from England so nope. We are getting married in a town about an hour outside of where both of us grew up. But we, as of next week, live in BC. So it's a long trip for us back home.

I grew up in a small town in southwestern Ontario. I would’ve loved to get married there but I now live in Alberta and didn’t want to plan long distance. This is where my fiancé grew up and where we met and live so it was a natural decision to marry here. Plus, it’s a city so there are lots of options for people to stay and get around

We are not getting married in either hometown although mine is fairly close - about an hour away. My FH is from Toronto and no longer has family or any connection there (plus it would be a lot more expensive). My hometown would be significantly cheaper than the wedding we are having but as it's a small town there really aren't any venues - just church ceremonies and legion reception more or less. We wanted to have a venue to host both ceremony and reception and chose a place just outside Ottawa where we live now. Sure we spent a good chunk more than we would have in my hometown but it will be all about 'us' and our new city life together.

We are not getting married in either of our hometowns, but fairly close to where we currently live. Most our friends and family are in this area so it should be easy for most people to get to or from the venue!

We are getting married in the city we live in. I grew up in Nipigon and he grew up in Sault Ste Marie. We had talked about getting married in his home town but decided on getting married where we grew a relationship together!

Getting married in downtown Vancouver whereas I grew up in a small town an hour or two outside of the city. Vancouver feels way more like home for me now and it's also where my FH grew up.

We got married at a property my uncle has had for over 15 years. It is not my or my husband's hometown but it gave us the feel and venue we wanted for our big day.
