6 months to go

Amelia, on April 4, 2018 at 14:59 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 8
I'm 6 months away ftom our bug day and im starting to freak out a little that everything's happening! I feel like im forgetting something.

I have the venue, officiant, photographer, food, invites, dress, veil, rings.
I know exactly what i want for centrepieces and room decor, guest book but i haven't bought anything for it yet. I can't purchase our marriage license just yet. Im also freaking out a little about affording everything. Ive been toying with the idea of having a stag and doe party to help out a little.

Am i forgetting something? Wheres everyone else at?

Hair and makeup are expensive, but I feel that ultimately the only thing you have left of the day in the times to come are your pics. Spend the $ on the things that are prominent in them such as your bouquet and def your hair and makeup. Depending on where you are located, Sephora does a full make up with a $50 purchase, I had my engagement shot makeup done there and she did 1.5 hrs instead of 1 because it was such an important day. For décor I am buying things off of resale sites on FB and I am saving a ton, plus will resell it all after essentially making that cost a wash. Best of luck!

Definitely go to your bank and ask about a line of credit. Lower interest rates.

It sounds like you have everything under control. I had a big freak out at 6 months as well. A stag and doe is a lot of planning for one night. Make sure you have a lot of help with it! Ours was only about 3 hours but we did make some money that helped us make payments on our vendors. We got lucky with our tax return this year which allowed us to pay off every single vendor and have money to go towards our honeymoon.

Are you able to take out a small loan through the bank? We have a line of credit to fall back on, which has a lower interest rate, in case it's needed.

I feel like most brides think they are forgetting something! If you haven't already, look at the checklist on this site. It's a great place to start!

One thing my fiance and I did was sit down and go through everything for the day. And I mean everything (it was a little long!). But, we started with getting ready. Starts at 9, at this place. Make-up at this time at another place. Wait, how are we getting there? etc. Looked at every person that would be there and what they would be wearing, doing, and thinking (just kidding!) And asked as many questions as we could to see if we were missing anything. When we looked at the timeline, we realized we didn't have lunch so we went back and added lunch. It was long, but a great way to go through all the details of the day.

We're making our own playlist instead of hiring a DJ. Anf my aunt is a florist so she's doing our flowers as a wedding gift. One of my bridesmaids is handling the transportation. I'm a little on the fence about hiring someone for hair and male up becaise im not sure if i can fit them into my $2500 budget. I only have $500 left to spend

I would check your budget (or make it) so you can start looking for sales or going onto buy and sell groups for centerpieces. I bought most of my stuff from Amazon or IKEA to help with costs, so it is always worth to price things out.

If you are thinking about having a stag and doe, bring it up with your bridal party, as you'll definitely want help to plan/organize that. Find a date that works for everyone, and get them to do as much planning as possible to take that off your plate.

As Courtney said, checking about flowers, DJ and your fiance's attire is a must as well. If you are doing RSVPs to a website, you may want to start that as well.

Have you been using the checkllist on Weddingwire? I found it very helpful to plan and organize everything in the months. Helped me not to miss anything either!

We all go through that! The worry that we're forgetting something. Sounds like you're in a great spot though for 6 months out:

In terms of vendors you've done, are you hiring a DJ? If so, I'd work on getting that done soon. Are you also hiring a florist? May be a good idea to book them too.
The only other vendors I can think of are transportation, hair/make up.

You should also look to book your alterations for your dress soon.

Just buy your decor and such, slowly. I've bought a little with each pay cheque and we haven't had to do a stag and doe Smiley smile (I'm not a fan of them though)

I'm at the 3 month mark and pretty squared away, doing final meetings with vendors at this point and getting my marriage license in about 2 weeks.
