Your wedding planning tribe!

Kate, on September 12, 2023 at 13:17 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 11

Hello all Smiley heart

Wedding planning can be all the emotions - fun, exciting, stressful, disappointing, etc., etc. That being said, who have you trusted to help you plan this important day? Has it become a lot of you and your partner making decisions together? your best friend? your future mother in law? or has it worked out better solo? Has anyone disappointed you in their lack of helping you out or enthusiasm?

I personally ended up doing a lot of it myself. My husband and I chatted about some things that were important to him (food being a big one) but other than that, I pretty much ran with it and honestly, did not want many outside opinions (I wanted to stay on track for our vision and not be influenced too much by others). I think this helped get everyone more excited for the day too because we shared very little details of what was in store lol Smiley smile

My FH has basically said to just tell him where to be and when, and have at'ter (tho he wants to be included in figuring out how to honor/include some friends we have lost, who would have been a big part of our wedding) - and I am so ok with that!

MY Ride or Die girls have been and will continue to be a huge help - I mean, we have started to plan a wedding, and had to postpone many times, and they are just as excited to get started with the planning again, as the day I got engaged Smiley smile

I’m sure if I talked about it or asked for something she’d help, but it has surprisingly been a bigger deal for our guests than it is for us. Majority are expressing a great deal of stress to our lack of focus or urgency 😅. We might be a little too overconfident about the day going wonderfully.

Cute to hear it's been all you and your partner planning, love that.

I can relate, I was a little surprised at the lack of excitement from those friends close to me but all of our guests and my family were super stoked and were counting down the days. I think as a bride it's always a bigger deal to us but for your friend not to even really mention your wedding is super odd. Nonetheless, it will be a beautiful day Smiley heart

The planning itself is all my partner and I. He has a clearer vision, and I’m good at delivering it. So it has worked out way better than I could have imagined.

I was a little disappointed at my friends lack of enthusiasm, she hasn’t mentioned our wedding or offered to help at all. She is pregnant, so we have been only discussing her pregnancy, baby events, etc.

On the other hand, I am blown away with the excitement coming from literally every other person. I can’t believe how much everyone else is looking forward to it, and how happy they are for us.

Like you, I discussed a few things with my man like food, music, invites (who knew about that one lol). But the majority I did on my own. I had a small bridal party, just my daughter as MOH and she was away at school most of the time. I knew exactly how i envisioned my day and definitely did not want a lot outside opinions. If i was hesitating on something, i came here to the wedding planning tribe ❤️

I'm so pleasantly surprised to hear of how much us brides plan our own day! 👍 I think its smart that you have someone helping you with the pick ups and arrivals, as a bride it's a nice thing to not have to spend time doing that. Also I hear ya, if you know what you want exactly it can be so easy to just do it yourself and forget the help but, it does just add to our plate as brides...we are all rockstars lol 👍❤

I have done all the planning myself. My MOH is helping me coordinate all the moving parts (cake and deco pickups, vendor arrivals, ensuring all bridal party has their full outfits), but for the most part this has been a solo venture. Being completely honest, it has been incredibly stressful and I could have used a little help, but found when I asked for it usually the person needed so much direction from me it became easier to just do it myself.

My husband and I did all of the planning with no outside help. More people means more opinions lol
