Your First Wedding Vendor

Liberty, on April 5, 2021 at 22:44 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 24
Which wedding vendors did you book first? Why did you book that vendor first?

My first vendor was our reception hall. It is a DIY hall but I figured having somewhere to host our wedding was most important! Then we booked our officiant, and then photographer. I wanted to book vendors who cant be in two places at once first. Our wedding is in 2022 and I wanted to secure the vendors I wanted for the day I wanted before 2021 weddings got postponed.

Though technically I talked to our officiant first, we just haven't told him our date because in fall of 2020 we were still hoping for summer '21.

Our first book was our photographer. As soon as we found him we wanted to make sure we got him for our date because he only takes one wedding a day.

Taking our time to find the right venue is important! It is the backdrop to the whole event! I think it can really make the event!

For sure. But that's also because we took our time with finding our venue. I remember reading how a lot of people here booked the first or second venue they saw, some without even visiting it, and I'm like "whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?" lol

Brides attire is very important and so is someone to actually preform the ceremony!

Fiancee bought her dress before we booked anything.

In terms of an actual service provider, we booked the officiant first.

Definitely worth getting your dress first if you are/were planning a short engagement!

I don't know if this counts as a vendor, but I had actually gotten my dress as the first thing! We hadn't decided on the venue yet, but I just knew I wanted that one. We originally were planning our wedding within 9 months of getting engaged, so I knew that the dress takes a while to come in and I couldn't wait before trying them on! Oh well, it can wait a year Smiley smile

Actually now that I think about it, technically my hairstylist was the first vendor I booked. My best friend is a hair stylist and we had discussed her doing my wedding hair before the engagement happened, so as soon as we had a date set she was "booked"

Seems like most people go with venue first! I definitely think photographer/videographer should be high on the list as well!

Our venue was the first vendor to book for confirmation. The photographer and videographer were next to book to know they were available and to the budget set. The Officiant was set towards the end so that we knew we had one to work with us.

We're very blessed that we've have amazing service with our venue including all of our vendors with postponing and penciling in dates until we decide what we want to do.

That is nice that they were willing to pencil you in for 2022 until you make a final decision!! Crazy but not surprising all their Saturday dates are booked up already!

I think any day of the week for a wedding would be great no matter what! Our venue didn't have any Saturday dates available from May-September of 2022 so when they told us that they had the same weekend available just on the Sunday we said yes! So they have us penciled in for that date until we make a decision about this year in the next couple of weeks

A Sunday wedding can still be great! We chose a Sunday for our date (mind you it is a long weekend) but we just liked the date of the Sunday better than the Saturday of that weekend.

Same! My fiance and I wanted to have a August wedding since we know the weather out there is normally around 30-35 the beginning of August.

But now we're in the same boat as last year possibly having to postpone to 2022 and we're very thankful that we're able to switch again and we have the same weekend as the previous 2 years just now it's looking like it'll be a Sunday wedding if we postpone again

I'm glad it worked out that you could get a date you liked for 2021!! I know some couples don't really care about the specific date too much but the actual date was important to us too!

Oh 100% July and August is a busy time of the year for Kelowna in regards to weddings so when we had to postpone to 2021, we were worried that we were going to have a hard time getting a date that we were ok with since it was such short notice because of covid.

But we had asked what dates were available and they had limited dates but one date that we loved and wanted was still available so we snatched it up right away just incase other couples that were postponing as well didn't get that date we were looking at too!

If you have a specific date in mind, you gotta book things quick! Especially if it is during prime wedding season!

We booked our venue which will be holding our ceremony and reception first. We had to book 2 years in advance (2018 for our 2020 wedding) since it's a very popular place and spots fill up pretty fast. We knew from the very beginning that what date we wanted to have and we didn't want anyone else to grab it before we did.
