Would you do a vow renewal?

Joey, on December 18, 2018 at 08:05 Posted in Just married 0 21

Have you loved planning your wedding so much that you can't wait to do it all again? Are you here in our community now because you're in the process of planning a renewal?

How long after your wedding would you celebrate a vow renewal? What wedding traditions would you include, and which would you skip?

Would you do a vow renewal?

I have no real interest in a vow renewal, but I wouldn't turn down an opportunity to buy a pretty dress!

Every couple months I see something and suggest we do a vow renewal! There’s a new venue that opened up in our city that looks gorgeous so I suggested we do a vow renewal for our second anniversary! We are having a dinner at a formal restaurant so bought new clothes, so I suggested having a vow renewal so we could wear the clothes again!
We aren’t actually planning on doing a vow renewal since we had our wedding how we wanted it the first time. But I do miss the planning, just not the expense!

I never thought I would do a vow renewal and here I am planning a 30th vow renewal because we have been through hell and back over the years. The man I married has stood with me through illness, no job, financial issues, you name it, we've been through it and we are still standing. We want to join hands and say Honey, we did it, and I would do it again. I love this man more now after the beatings we have taken together than I did the day I married him when I was 19 years old. He is my forever, and my always, and I am happy to be showing the world again how much I love him.

We’re planning to renew our vows for our 20th Anniversary in 2021. It will be so special as we’ve been through so much together; and, unlike our wedding in 2001, my husband’s family will be able to attend.

I am doing my vow renewal this year on our 10 year anniversary. Major score that it ended up falling on a Saturday! My hubby and I eloped 10 years ago. We were young with little money. Now we have more.money so we want to celebrate with friends and family.

I doubt we'd ever do a public vow renewal. If we do, it would be extremely small and intimate in 10-20 years.

I can definitely see my husband and I having a vow renewal in the future.

We had debated having a small wedding and then a big vow renewal in 10 years but opted for the big wedding now. If we do a vow renewal, it will not be as big as the wedding was

I would absolutely do a renewal but I would probably wait at least 10 years.

Yep! My mom and stepdad did a vow renewal on a cruise a few years ago for their 15th wedding anniversary. They only took my grandma (mom's mom). My mom got a white floor length bridesmaid dress, and the captain of the ship officiated. It was super cute (from what I saw from the photos Smiley xd )

I would go destination, or a cruise, and probably for the 10 year anniversary.

I think we might for like our 25th anniversary or something like that. Go on a romantic trip and do it. Since we had our first child before we will get married we won't be having a traditional honeymoon since our son will be with us so something in the future will be nice.

I would do a big milestone anniversary party. as opposed to official vow renewals.

family friends of mine did a big house party on their 30th. she bought a white dress to wear, he wore a suit. they reread their vows to each other that they wrote 30 years ago. and then talked about what they are thankful for in their marriage and all the accomplished. and they did a sort of recommitment/promises for the next part of their lives.

Probably not. I know they can be really cute but for me I wouldn’t really want to spend the money on one.

I really haven't put any thought into this. But I think there is the possibility. My FH really wanted to have a destination wedding of just close family but some of my important family members wouldn't have been able to attend, so we opted for a local wedding. I would love to let him have that for a big milestone. Would be super cute once we have kids too

Was just talking to my FH about this.
While I respect the idea I don’t think I would ever do it.

To me the whole point of the “vow” is that it’s set in stone. It’s a promise that I intend to keep and if I eff it up, we’ll dust ourselves off and keep at it...bc it’s a promise/vow.

And if we have a falling out and need to be reminded of our vows, I think we’ll go about it in another way...although I’m not sure that I know what that would entail.

No shade towards anyone who has done it or plans on doing it, but nah - it’s not for us.

One of the most fun “weddings” i’ve ever attended was a vow renewal! It was family friends, and they were celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary with a Vegas vow renewal! they did it at the Graceland Chapel and were married by Elvis. It was INCREDIBLE! so much fun! it was a pretty small group who attended, which made it even better I think. It allowed the couple to have the fun and carefree wedding that they didn’t have the first time. I would love to do something similar someday

I don't think that I would unless we had a really big falling out or something. Otherwise, when I say I love him and that I want to spend the rest of my life with him - I mean it.
