Wine

Jasslyn, on April 2, 2018 at 16:56 Posted in Wedding reception 0 12

What is everyone's favourite wine for at a wedding? We aren't having a bar, just wine at tables. I don't want to break our bank but want it to be a good tasting wine. We are thinking of putting a bottle of red and white at each table.

I'm a fan of Fuzion Pinot Grigio. It's a pretty decent wine and only $9-11 in Ontario.

    Red. lol.

Honestly I'm not picky as a wedding guest. Free wine is free wine.

You have time, I strongly suggest over the next couple months, try out a few. Take a bottle to family dinners, get some other opinions.

I am not able to bring in my own liquor, but my venue sources from BC Liquor Stores, so I took their wine list, and went and tried each white wine. I picked my favourite, which luckily is a Sauvignon Blanc, which is a more popular option when trying to please a larger crowd.

My mom and FMIL are the red wine drinkers, and they both agreed on a red they thought would be best.

Kim Crawford is great, as well as Oyster Bay. (I only drink white, so those are both white recommendations... haha)

We were going to make our own wine and I love at some places how you can make a peach one, or raspberry, white, and all different kinds. I love the peach one the most. I know when I go to weddings most people I know drink red, all depends on the crowd!

I like Beringer wines, Kim Crawford, and J Lohr if you want to get something special for your head table.

Make sure to pair your bottles to whatever you are eating! We're having BBQ we're doing a Shiraz and dry Riesling.

Someone in a Facebook group recently asked a similar question so I wrote down the wines they suggested. I'm not a big wine drinker so haven't tried these myself.

    George Wyndham-Red-Costco

    Kim Crawford-white

    Moscato-Costco

    Casole-white-under $10

    Apothic-Red and white-$10

    My personal favourite whites are
Prosecco & Gewürtzraminer (the latter being fantastic for Asian cuisine & spicy foods with hints of lychee flavour).

For reds, I'm into merlots (or any other red that's light & fruity).

I did a cabernet sauvignon for the red, and split my whites between a super sweet local wine that my fiance enjoyed and a white zinfadel. Everyone raved about the wine!

Oooooh White Zinfandel is my fave!

Moscato is a really good option for white, I would pick that or a Pinot Grigio.

For red I second the Merlot!

We’re making moscato, Merlot and white Zinfandel for our wedding but I personally love a resiling or gewurztraminer. We tried to just pick a common red and white. Also I like blush wine so wanted to have a blush. If we weren’t making our wine I would have just gotten from Costco liquor like the rest of our alcohol but this way is much cheaper than Costco.
