Who's in your Bridal Party?

Who's in your Bridal Party? 1

Hey everyone! Just wondering who you brought on to stand with you on your big day. Did you do anything special when asking them?

I asked my friend who I met in university to be my Best Man. I was a bit worried he might not be able to do it since he just had a daughter but since we're having a winter wedding, she'll be out of the constantly crying phase so it worked out! I was one of his groomsmen and I planned his bachelor party so I'm really looking forward to seeing what he'll plan for me. My other groomsmen consists of a friend from high school and my two cousins. I took them each out for lunch and asked them individually.

My fiancee's Maid of Honour is her little sister, who pretty much expected to be in that role from the get go as they've talked about it for ages. Sames goes with one of her bridesmaids, who is her best friend from high school. Rounding out her party are two cousins from her mom's side. All the ladies, including the bride, are immigrants so we're going to incorporate something from their home country somehow into the entrances.

Tell us about your bridal party. And ladies, don't just talk about yourselves - tell us what the gents did and who they brought on as groomsmen!

We didn’t lol he’s still small and will change so much between now and the wedding there was no point. My sister in law will buy something closer to the wedding for him.

I think Freeman’s is actually officially closed today!

We kept our wedding party to family. I had my sister and sister-in-law as bridesmaids, and my husband had his brother and longtime best friend who he'd known since childhood (practically family) as groomsmen. We also had my cousin's three children and my husband's youngest cousin as flower girls and the ring bearer.
We asked my family in person and his family over Skype since they live in Ireland. We didn't do anything special for the adults, but I did get the kids little stuffed animals dressed as brides and grooms as something fun for them.

That's actually really smart. If I didn't already filled some of the spots with family members, I would've done the same.

We weren't having a wedding party but covid convinced me to change my mind. This way we have the friends we want there in the wedding without needing to explain why some people are invited and others aren't.

I've asked my closest friends, five in total, to be bridesmaids. We also asked two of our best friends to be our witnesses. My fiance hasn't asked anyone to be groomsmen yet, that's up to him!

We went small and sweet - every wedding I’ve ever been to, there were issues with the bridal party and I just did not want any of that.

We chose our siblings. My sister is my maid of honour and my brother in law is our best man.
We are going to incorporate FH’s sister and her husband by having them do a dinner prayer for the guests and their son is going to be just over 2 by the time our new day rolls around so he’s going to be our ring boy!

I have a larger bridal party!! My maid of honour is my cousin who’d I also consider my best friend. My bridesmaids include, my sisters, my future sister in-law, childhood best friend of fifteen years, highschool best friend of 10 years, college best friend (who I met only one month before my FH!), another cousin and my FH’s brothers wife, who I consider my sister in law!! I was so excited to ask all of them I made them each proposal boxes. They consisted of hair ties that said bride tribe, a glass that says bridesmaid (or MOH) that they will use the morning of the wedding and I iced all of them 😂 I also made photo collages of us over the years and they each had a personal message in them (ie. “soon you will be my sister, until then, be my bridesmaid?) My fiancé has yet to ask his guys!! Our wedding is still over a year away so he has lots of time, I just couldn’t wait to ask them! I also took a short video of all of them getting iced and made a TikTok out of it, it was amazing!!

We were originally going to stand on our own but I didn't want to feel like the centre of attention. I didn't want any drama between my friends and cousins on who was selected or not. As well two of my friends live far away. So, I decided to go with just siblings. No special titles given to anyone but my sister and one of his sister's will be up there with me. My brother and one of his brothers will be standing with him.

Our wedding party is roughly the same size as your’s, Hank! My lifelong BFF is my maid of honour. It was a no brainer. My bridesmaids are my SIL (as in, my brother’s spouse) who is also a dear friend, my future SIL (as in, my fiancé’s sister) and my cousin.

On the other side of the alter, we’ll have my fiancé’s best friend as best man, his twin brother, my younger brother, and a friend of his from college.
I made homemade proposal boxes for my ladies (nothing fancy—just a bottle of wine and a custom card from Etsy), but it was more of a fun gesture / project than anything. I’d laid the groundwork informally beforehand and they pretty much knew the request was coming.

That sounds like a great wedding party!
I have my best friend from high school as my maid of honor, and my three sisters and best friend from University as my bridesmaids. Most of us are spread out all over Ontario so I asked them all over the phone (my sisters expected to be bridesmaids which I was really happy about).
My FH asked his best friend from high school to be his best man and for groomsmen he asked his 2 younger brothers, another friend from high school, and our mutual best friend/former room mate from when we first started dating. He didn't do anything special to ask them.

My husband and I asked our best friends to be our Best Man(s) and his boss and co worker to be Maid of Honours. The colours were separated to show each side represented. Husbands side colour was purple as my side was blue/turquoise. We told them they were our choices in person and on phone.
