Who did separate ceremony and reception guest lists? Any tips/suggestions?

For our wedding day I want to invite only certain guests to the ceremony and than everyone else to the reception.

Has anyone done this before and if so, do you have any tips/suggestions for me?

    I agree with sending out two seperate invitations. To those invited tp the reception. My brother had done that back in 2000

    We aren't doing this but definitely be very specific! You don't want people second guessing and coming to your reception if they're not invited!

    As long as the wording is clear on the invitation they receive you should have no problems. We had friends who invited more people to their reception than their ceremony and dinner. Some they told via word of mouth and some got an invitation that stated they were invited to celebrate the wedding of MR. and Mrs. X at the reception.

    You definitely will need different types of invites: ones for those invited to both and ones for those invited only to the reception.

    Make sure the wording is clear on each invite type what the guest is being invited to.

    Hand out seperate invitations stating that they are welcome to come to the reception.
