Congrats my date is may 16th 2020, I've got venue booked, and photographer, I have save the dates planned, guest list is done, and bridesmaids proposal/ flower girls. I have a rough budget estimated already with some room for flexibility, I've picked my theme and colors.

I'm starting to make small dyi projects to help make thing less crazy closer to the wedding I also have to younge children so starting early rather then later.

I've also looked into a few caterers which they all seem to take most of the budget up deffintly the biggest cost of the wedding. Ive contacted a few decor rental companies for stuff I wont be purchasing.

I plan on wedding dress shopping in May and June along with bridesmaid dresses and accessories.

    Welcome and happy planning, congrats!

Congrats!!!! MY FH and I are getting married May 24th this year!!!

As others have said! Start a budget! It is beyond easy to get in over your heads without a set amount you want to spend. Next, I would pick THREE things you want to really indulge on! Do you want an amazing menu? Open bar? A really great venue? An amazing photographer? Special performers?

Pick a few things you would like the splurge on, and then aim to try and find savings everywhere else you can! Do online RSVPS to save on stamps, do some DIY things, eliminate extra costs like wedding favours, wedding cake, etc.

If you have a date already that's great! My biggest recommendation is to secure your venue first! Everything else will always ask you what the venue is before they can give you much more pricing so having that set is best! Also venue book up QUICK!

    Good luck!

Budget. Budget. Budget. 100% the #1 thing to figure out. It dictates EVERYTHING else about the wedding... the guest list and venue kind of go hand in hand... If your venue is more important, you'll have to adjust your guest list to fit, if your guest list is most important, then you need to look for a venue that fits with it.

Everything else is pretty much secondary after those things.

Venue is usually the first thing, but you need a guest list and a budget before you start looking for that (as mentioned below). Use the Wedding Wire checklist to help you get started!

    Congratulations!
first things first, I would create a guest list and a budget. this will help you narrow down what kind of venue would be best for you! the first thing we did was hire a photographer, and i definitely don’t regret doing so - we were able to book with 2018 pricing for our june 2020 wedding! so i guess my advice would be to get as much done as you can while the wedding is still a ways away! you’ll thank yourself for it later

Congratulations on your engagement! Welcome to the WW community!

Start with your budget and your guestlist.

Discuss the things you must have and the things you can do without.

There are a TON of checklists and spreadsheets available on WW, to help you in your planning process.

Hey Aaliyah, congratulations on your engagement and setting a date!

A safe place to start planning would be to create a budget and guestlist. Once you know those two key pieces of information, you'll be able to plan everything else around that Smiley smile
