Where do you start

Robin, on June 10, 2017 at 17:05 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 5
I'm having issues on where to start planning! I have a few years before my date but I want to get started with the small stuff.

I know exactly what you mean! If you have a specific date in mind, then you're already on your way. Smiley smile I started with my venue and budget. We weren't really picky about our date; we just knew what month we wanted to get married in. Then I started compiling a list of venues that I was possibly interested in and contacted each one of them about availability for our month and their pricing.

    Good luck! Smiley smile

I agree with previous comments. This is how I started.

    - Number of guests

    - Budget

    - Date

    Leads into...

    - Venue (scope out city/town you want)

Those are the best starting points. How many guests can you afford to have? What date do you want your wedding? Off-season or on-season? This will be dictated by guest size and budget. Also, be aware of the average prices of things. The first thing I did was actually go to a bridal show in Toronto. It gave me a starting point of how much things generally cost. Be aware, however, that the wedding biz has a lot of people looking to rip you off. I know because my dad used to be in it. So shop, shop and shop around for quotes. Don't be afraid to negotiate.

It is hard to know what to do for the small stuff until you set a budget, pick a venue, and decide how big or small of a wedding you want.

Start simple! create a book or binder to store everything and find a good to do list. the time will go by very fast and don't worry about doing everything in the same order as the list.
