When to send invites and set RSVP

Brett, on September 23, 2019 at 21:37 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 10
I am getting married July 25, 2020. When should I be sending out our invites? And when should I set the RSVPp date?

    I didn't mean 8 weeks lol.

If you're sending out save the dates, then you can send your invitations out closer to the wedding date (I think we sent ours out 4 months prior to our wedding date). But if you're not sending out save the dates, then sending out your invitations much earlier would be a good idea (especially for those who might be coming from out of town).

International family/friends should be sent out 3 months so that it does take that extra time to get to them. Local/U.S.A. 2 months with 6 weeks to 1 month RSVP deadline depending on how you two feel to give yourselves time to get the final count. International would need time to arrange travel bookings and room reservations of the wedding block at the venue.

Usually you can send invite 2-4 months before have your RSVP date 1 month before the wedding.

One thing I factored in was mail-delivery time. Being in Northern Ontario, it usually takes 5-7 business days (around 1 week) for mail to travel from N. Ontario to Southern Ontario, where most of the invitations were going. So for us, there was 1 week for everyone to receive their invitations. Some people responded right away and it took the RSVP another week to get to us. Some didn't respond right away, others mailed their card on the deadline, so it took a week PAST our deadline to receive those responses.

We sent ours at 3 months (July 15th 2019) and our RSVP date was September 1st - A little more than a month but wanted time to chase down remaining RSVPs and do seating plan. Catering doesn't need final numbers until a week before but I feel calmer having it all done now.

We're getting married on June 20, 2020 and we already sent out our invites. We made the RSVP deadline may 4, 2020.

Since you are having a summer wedding I would say to send the invites out no later than February. Reason being - people who go camping in the summer start signing up for spots in early spring and although they would prioritize your wedding (hopefully), it would suck for them. So roughly send out at the 5 month mark. For me, since the 6 month mark was around both Easter's (English & Ukrainian) I hand delivered them a little early and sent the rest out after.

For RSVP's I asked that they let me know at the 3 month mark but I also sent out a second wave of invites based off the no's we received. Then from those ones I set the RSVP date as 1 month till the wedding.

We're getting married in May 2020, and we've decided to send out invited early December when people start booking off vacation time. As for RSVPs, we know 99% of the people we're inviting will be there but we will ask them to RSVP by probably March.

I think sending them out at least 8 months prior to your wedding date is good and set the RSVP deadline for 6 weeks from your wedding date. We sent our invitations out like this and it was plenty of time.

We’re getting married a week before you. Ours are going to go out at the end of March/April probably. Keep in mind, we are inviting people internationally so we’re giving ourselves a bit more time plus our venue wants numbers a month before (mid June).

our RSVPs will need to be back in May. That gives me time to chase people.
