When did you move in together?

Joey, on September 13, 2018 at 08:05 Posted in Living together 0 17

When did you and your SO move in together? How long into your relationship was it? Who "proposed" the idea of living together? Who is waiting until after they are married to share a home?

When did you move in together? 1

We moved in together approximately 3.5 years into our relationship. He was the one who brought it up since his parents were in the works of selling their home and moving to their cottage permanently (this didn't happen for 2 years, but we still moved out together). It was nice and definitely made our relationship stronger.

We moved into my parent home together about two years before the wedding, about 4 months after getting engaged we had just come back from backpacking Europe and it didn't make sense to live apart anymore,

We waited until we were married, three years after we started dating.

We have officially lived together for 2 years, when we moved to Nova Scotia. We also didn't spend a night about for about 2 years before that. We didn't live together officially sooner because my FH is navy and we knew we would have to move to one of the coasts.

We both still lived with our parents when we met, so we were basically switching where we were staying on the weekends.

Just before the year mark he was looking for a house as his parents were going to be selling theirs and moving in with him! So we actually both went through houses together even though I would not be living there.

I basically lived in his house and my parents for a year and a half while I was finishing school and working.

I finally moved in 2 years ago after his parents moved out of the house! We knew it would happen it was just a matter of time!

This is always a fun story I tell people Smiley laugh

So right before we started dating, he bought a house to get out of a terrible roommate/renting situation. He didn't want to find roommates again so he said **** it, I'm buying. Of course, his budget wasn't great, so he ended up in a fixer-upper, in a not so great area of town (99% sure there's a very popular drug dealer in the apartment next door).

At the time, I was living with two other girls and we were all going to university, all in year 3 of a 4 year program. We were all gonna graduate at the same time and they both knew they were going to leave town after graduation however I was 99% sure I was staying (one moved out to BC, the other moved back home for the time being). So, about the time my lease was going to renew for the second year, the three of us sign on again but I was talking to my FH (then boyfriend) about how I didn't want to necessarily look for new roommates next year. He then asked if I would want to move in with him in a year and I said yes. I knew our relationship would last so I felt confident in the move. We were dating a year and a half once I did move in.

Now his mortgage is up for renewal in 2020 and we're thinking of moving again, to a not-so sketchy area!

So I actually started full time staying at his house after about 2 weeks. None of my stuff fit in there however, so we moved into a bigger place together after 2.5 months. Very quick, but it made sense as we spent every night together anyways. Why pay rent two different places? Neither of us exactly "proposed it", just sort of happened haha.

We worked at the same place, and my dad was the boss... eek, haha. So we kept things on the DL... But he lived in a neighbouring city, and didn't have a car... (Greater Vancouver Area/Fraser Valley)... So very quickly into the relationship he started staying with me a lot (about 2 months in), to spend more time with me and be closer to work. Then he was there 100% of the time after about 4 months.

We moved to an "our place" about 6-7 months into dating.

We started dating Nov 20th 2015 and I can count on one hand how many days we've been apart. He worked overnight and at the time, he was only sleeping on a couch at friends house. By the time he got home from work, they were all up and being loud. After a week, I told him that he could sleep at my house since I was at work anyways and he never left Smiley smile So I guess a week lol

We moved in together pretty quickly into the relationship, 4 months. It was actually his two roommates that told him he should as me to move in since I basically lived there already. I spend probably 90% of my time there and was barely at my own apartment. So he asked me one day, he was super nervous doing it since it was so early but I knew he was the one so I said yes.

I guess I'm the one who 'proposed' moving in. I love telling this story haha.

We had been dating for less than a year when he got offered a job in Alberta (we lived in Gatineau/Ottawa). He broke up with me, since he thought a long distance relationship wouldn't work. I gave him time to process his decision and then nudged him to reconsider: We should give this a shot, we have nothing to lose here! I still had a bit over a 1 year left to my undergrad, but proposed to join him in Alberta after graduating.

I graduated in May 2013 and moved-in with him the following July, after the flood! We lived together for roughly 4 years before he popped the question Smiley heart

We dated for just under a year before he moved in with me (I owned my home; he was renting with a bunch of guys). We've been living together for 3 years; will be almost 4 by the time we get married. It was my idea; the environment he was in was not the best one (some of the guys were...questionable), and I knew he was the man I wanted to be with for the rest of my life.

Well.... I proposed to him at our 10 month mark - so by our 1 year anniversary we had decided that since our wedding is in 2019 that we would buy a house this year!

We started looking at around the 14 month mark and bought one at the 15 month mark. Theeeeen we got possession of the house this past July at the 16 month mark!

I think it was just kind of a no duh that we wanted to live together seeing as how we were already engaged Smiley smile
