When did you tackle the big moment of meeting your partner's parents? How long into dating (or your engagement) was it? And how did it go? Any horror stories? Photo from Magical Stills Photography in Brampton

I met his mom unintentionally and it was super awkward. I stayed over at his family's home. His mom wasn't home till the morning. In the morning he asked if he should drive me home now or later. I said now. As were going out his mom is in the kitchen. She starts talking to him in another language then stops. I can't read expression cuz I forgot to bring spare contacts. So I said hi and we left.

I don't get along with my parents so he's never met them properly. And he doesn't talk to his dad. So it was only about meeting his mom.

My future in-laws are hilarious... Only a few weeks into dating, I went over to my FH's house (he lived at home at the time, just moved back from Toronto), and him, his dad, brother, and a few friends were up drinking (it was 2am, I went over after a bartending shift).

The first thing his dad does is realize I'm dressed up, asks where I've been, I tell him, and he says, "So you drove all the way out here at this time for this guy?" (Pointing to his son)... I said yes, and he just laughed and gave me a hug.

We then woke up the next morning to his dad blasting "Love Shack" on the sound system to wake everyone up at 8am.

5.5 years later, they drive me nuts like my own parents, and I love them just as much too.

My husband met my parents 1 1/2 years in our relationship. It didn't go well as my dad felt uncomfortable and my mom felt uneasy in her way.
