I met his family at the Obon Ceremony in July. Apparently several of his siblings changed their plans to attend after they found out I was going.

No, I stayed in his apartment with his 2 roommates. One's always out for the majority of the day, the other one just sits around gaming, and he was in school and working 1 shift a week at his part time job.

I'll definitely check out the test!

But my mother-in-law is kinda like me so we got along, since she's a bad ass lady who carries hand cuffs and pepper spray in her purse. She's really nice and she knows her son is in good hands.

Hey Emilie, meeting my future-in-laws for the first time was great. They both welcomed me with open arms and I felt like I was their daughter. They are very kind and loving. The best part of it is that my future father-in-law has become my own father and it's nice to have that kind of relationship with him.

When I flown in with my boyfriend from Winnipeg so I can live in Fredericton 2011 with my boyfriend while he's going to college. I graduated before he did at a vocational school, but unfortunately a lot of the admin positions require bilingual fluiency. His parents were surprised that I was a real person, the would not stop complimenting me and they were excited to meet me.

I met his family pretty soon since I was pregnant 3 months in our relationship. I had to push him because he wasn't speaking to them . I explain that they should atleast know he will be a father and that push made that they repaired their relationship.

I actually got a little freaked out that our first date wasn't a date, or that he might have broken up with a girlfriend the day before he asked me out (or worse was still dating her!)....A girl had commented on his wall that she had a GREAT Christmas gift for him.

Turns out she was his brother's girlfriend- it was a meatloaf pan.

It was fun to show interested parties pictures of the new love interest, wasn't it?

GREAT discussion idea! I surprisingly didn't, but once we were FB friends the creeping DEFINITELY happened. It was a fun game with my co-workers.

Did you find anything when you were creeping your FH on social media that you then had to hold back mentioning in person and risk him knowing you creeped on him?

At Christmas I believe, maybe a little before that. They were shocked we dated after I had dated his friend, but they came to like me quickly. His family is very calming compared to my crazy family!

I started a worst dates discussion! We all must have some funny stories...I know there were some dozzies before i met FH!

I like the New Age fairy tale idea....a post- social media love story....did you investigate your FH online before your first date? I sure did- we met at work, but once we had a date I was social media creeping Smiley winking

Oh man.. though it is fun to have those pictures now. My SIL had a makeshift photobooth at her birthday and so that's our first picture together, 2 days later (without us having had any kind of conversations) he made us "Facebook official". Makes for a hilarious story now but at the time I was like, WTF dude!.

I love when stories are real aren't always... we met, sparks flew, and it was just love at first sight Smiley love Real like is awkward and weird sometimes!

We have the real life new aged fairytale Smiley winking We met... things were akward and weird for a few months... then we found our rhythm and fell in love/mutual weirdness

There are days I miss the insane stories I had from dating... but then I think about it for like a second and am SO GLAD it's done and I never have to go through that again!

You are definitely not alone Smiley winking

His step mom had just got a new camera for Christmas and took a picture of us together- you can imagine what that did i my mind! This woman I just met already has pictures of me?!? I almost ran!

I did the same- I lived at home, so I invited him for dinner a week later.

It is funny. Sometimes I think "oh, dating was so FUN!" and then I remember the silly games and guessing and don't want it back- I'm very happy with my pick....and happy to hear I'm not the only one with properly awkward beginnings!

HAHA omg that sounds exactly like the freak out I had. I ended up inviting him to see my family a few weeks after since I only go see them monthly and I was planning to go for my SIL's birthday. I was like... well I met his family, will it be weird if I don't invite him? What does it mean if I DO invite him?!?! He later told me he did think it was a bit weird and I was like YOU STARTED IT!! Oh the old days... don't miss that crap at all!

HA! I hear ya! My FH iused to do Sunday dinner with his family every week (now we all live too far apart Smiley sad )...and after about 3 weeks of dating he invited me over....I freaked out too! I went, but in my mind I was like "what does this mean?! Oh god, do I want this to be so serious? Should I invite him to meet my parents now!??? this is so weird!"

    The old days, right?

Turned out well in the end!

FH got serious weirdly fast and introduced me to his family within 2 weeks of meeting! He thought it wasn't weird because he lived with them so it wasn't such a big "meet the family" kind of moment, but I OBVIOUSLY over-analysed this and it freaked me out at first... oh back when the relationship was new and it was still kind of a game
