When are you tipping your vendors?

Joey, on February 7, 2019 at 08:05 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 11

Do you have a plan for when you'll tip your vendors? Will you bring pre-made tip envelopes to the reception? Will you send tips to everyone after the big day? Is tip built into your final payments?

When are you tipping those hard working vendors?

I didn't have too many vendors... and honestly, the only ones who got tipped were my officiant and hair stylist, and they were tipped when they were paid (hair stylist when she was done, officiant at the wedding rehearsal).

I will tip the vendors who are there the day of, and those who are not there (like my florist), I will tip her later.

We will give our best man and maid of honour envelopes for tips! Our vendors will be paid off before the wedding so we just have to hand out tips!

We didn't give any tips as there was nothing taken that day.

I'll have the tips ready to go on the day, and have already asked the best man to be in charge of giving those out.

I think I will give my DOC envelopes with tips to distribute throughout the day.

Either our vendors have tips and gratuities included in their pricing, or we will have tip envelopes (15%) ready to go! All final payments are due at least a week before the wedding so it makes no sense to tip then since they haven't done anything yet.

    It’lll be a bit of a combination.
We’ll send gifts to our officiant and our coordinator.
Where tips are built to the costs we’ll just do that.
Luckily we’ve got a coordinator who’s taking the lead on this.

I'm thinking that I will give our DOC 2 sets of envelopes - the first set is the rest of what we owe the vendors, and the second set of envelopes will most likely be cheques that need the amount filled in that we will decide after they do what we payed them for. If they did a good job - good tip. If they didn't do that great - minimal tip, if they did pretty bad/ bare minimum and we wouldn't hire again - no tip! Tips are to be earned IMO. If you expect a tip, then you should put it into your pricing. Otherwise tips are meant for people that did their job - and then some. We all make at least minimum wage in Canada so it's not like I'm trying to make up for something.
