Hi ladies! Has anyone here been to a wedding dress sample sale? If so, did you leave with a dress? What was your experience like?
I have an appointment for a sample sale. My sister says they won't really have the a line/ ballgown dresses I'm looking for, so I want to get a sense of what selection would be like and just general thoughts.
Update (April 10): So I went to the sample sale at Kleinfeld on Friday. I was the first round of girls going in and I said yes to this dress! Within 50 minutes, I purchased my dress! It's a Mark Zunino tulle ball gown. The dress is in perfect condition. It was barely on the floor and therefore barely tried on. Mark Zunino has recently pulled his wedding dresses from Kleinfeld's, as he's exclusively selling them from his shop in Beverly Hills. The sample dress I purchased would have been for 2018.
If any ladies are looking at this thread, this is some advice I have to impart based on my experience:
- Bring a trusted person (like your mom) who can help you make snap decisions and who will have a good eye. My mom found my dress for me, and was super helpful in finding me styles I wouldn't have normally tried on. (On the negative side, she encouraged me to buy a dress over my budget. It's okay though.)
- Be fast! So many girls come in there aggressively snatching dresses off of the racks. If you see something you like, don't mull it over. Just grab it.
- Book the earliest appointment you can get if you're attending a sample sale. Selection goes fast.
- Check the dress for any damage. If you see a stain or a rip, ask the consultant, is this easy to fix? They will give you advice.
- You will have to share a room with another girl. However, I was lucky because the other person assigned to my room left within five minutes of the sale! I got one-on-one attention.
