I also don't want to go table to table while I'm trying to enjoy my dinner, but we're having pizza so I'll probably just bring it with me lol

I really didn't want to have a receiving line, but I was told I would have to make an effort to go and see everyone at some point during the reception. This meant, I would have to go during dinner to each table, which I wasn't fond of since I wanted to enjoy my dinner. So, during the cocktail hour, we did a receiving line, which wasn't too bad. I made the effort, which is what mattered to my family.

If there isn't anyone in your family making a point of it, I would skip it!

It’s formal... but I think table to table visits are more personable.

We are skipping this- we're going to each table for a toast

Most couples these days cut the receiving line out because it's an older tradition that's not really necessary and it's also time consuming. I'd definitely suggest during dinner/after dinner going to see each guest at their table. It's also more personal and I like that more.

Yeah I have a small wedding party so I'll probably go from table to table. Might be able to greet everyone at our reception though.

A receiving line is where you, your family and sometimes/most times the wedding party all line up and greet each guest as they arrive. Typically it is for larger weddings so that the bride and groom are guaranteed to see each and every guest. If your having a smaller wedding most just go from table to table to see each guest.
