What's in your welcome bag?

Laura, on December 6, 2021 at 17:28 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 11

Are you planning on having welcome bags greet your guests at the hotel? What's in your guest welcome bag?

We are having a city wedding downtown Toronto and I've been thinking I want to include the following:

Chocolate

Pellegrino

Mini bottles of alcohol

Advil and Alka-seltzer (hangover helpers)

Gum

Local Snacks

Wedding Itinerary

... any other ideas!?

Thanks Kelly! I’ve actually been looking into those custom wedding maps, they’re such a cute touch.

Haha yes, can you tell I’m overzealous? Knowing me this will turn into an Academy Awards level goodie bag.

I think your list is good, maybe add a little map highlighting coffee houses or parks ( incase someone is bringing younger children) in the immediate area of the hotel....

Fair enough. But sounds like your goodie bag is quite sufficient. Smiley smile

Unfortunately our venue is not walking distance from the hotel. So an Uber is a nice touch to get our guests from hotel to venue since we won’t be providing transportation otherwise.

I don't think Ubers are necessary. Downtown Toronto is so accessible by foot that I doubt anyone would want to purposely drive into the chaotic traffic to travel such a close distance to the venue, only to need someone be a DD.

Good thought! I love the gift card idea. I also was thinking of doing Uber gift cards as a little bonus to encourage everyone to leave their rides at the hotel and party safely!

I totally forgot about washroom baskets - good idea! I also really like providing masks that match the wedding for nicer candid photos. Although, I am very much hoping that mask mandates will be lifted come next summer.

I personally would skip the alcohol (especially since they'll be drinking at your wedding) and give a coffee gift card instead. Coffee in most hotels rooms are terrible and since you're downtown, you'll be walking distance from a Starbucks or Tim Hortons.

That seems like a really well thought out bag to me! We had chocolates, pretzels (sweet & salty), buble, hot chocolate for my nieces and nephews, a note ties to the front, masks we wanted guests to wear. We skipped the advil etc as we thought adults usually pack that stuff themselves (and their preferences) plus we had all that stuff and antacids in the washroom baskets. We thought about mini bottles of sparkling wine (was NYE originally) but didn't as we had an open bar and didn't think guests would need more before the wedding lol.
