What will your parents be wearing?

I’ve only been involved in one wedding in Canada and the bride was insistent that both fathers rented a suit like the groomsmen. I’m so glad to hear it was her quirk and not an expectation of all Canadian/Ontario weddings. As long as they are comfortable, the parents can wear what they like.

My mom is a hippie so it’s going to be weird seeing her in something formal, but I’m trying to sway her from buying a sundress from value village. Slowly but surely.

yah. no tricking FIL. his "buddy" (we call her stepmom...but she isn't...they don't live together...just best friends). said she will make sure he gets a new suit and that she will pick whatever we want him in. hahah

Meh... our parents can wear whatever they want I trust them not to wear anything crazy lol

I'm surprised at how chill many of your families seem to be! This was a hot issue when I was wedding planning, both moms were asking me all the time about what they should wear!

Sounds like my parents. My mom wanted to compliment the wedding party, so she wore a navy lace dress (wedding color was bright blue and my dress was lace) and my dad wore his own grey suit as the groomsmen were in grey, and we got him a tie in the wedding colors (the groomsmen were in cravats so we put both dads in regular ties and pocket squares of the same color).

Haha, I sympathize, we had to sort of trick my FIL into a new suit because he owned only one, and it was way too big for him and black so he looked like an undertaker.

Our moms are wearing full-length sparkly mother-of-the-bride evening gowns. His dad is wearing a 3-piece suit of course.

My mom and I have gone shopping together to get an idea; we will probably go again in January after all the New Years dresses are on sale. My dad will just wear a basic suit.

For his parents, I'm really not sure - they know our colours, so hopefully coordinating, but...who knows.

my aunt and uncle are my "parents". my aunt purchased the dress below. she loves that she has a belt (after watching me try on belts with my wedding dress). my uncle will be in a black suit. unsure of shirt color.

FMIL hasn't decided what she wants yet. she is also waiting till I decide on bridesmaid dress color (which I haven't).

and FFIL we are making him buy a new suit. as his other one is old. and will probably be in black or navy.

Thank you! I'm so happy she found it. She'd been gaining weight over several years, and she was very concerned with finding a dress that flattered her, and she felt comfortable in. She really likes it, and I'm so glad everyone has their outfits now NO MORE STRESS!

All of that sounds beautiful. but FMIL's dress WOW!!!! is beautiful. and looks SOOOO good on her!

Suprisingly, parents attire was almost more work than the bridal parties! Haha. My mom found a GORGEOUS floor length soft baby pink gown that is covered in silver appliques from top to bottom. It could almost be a non-traditional bridal dress, but I'm not too concerned about my mom stealing my thunder. Haha.

My FMIL doesn't have any daugthers, so her and I went shopping for her a couple weeks ago. We found a beautiful black floor length dress, the top/bust portion is black lace with nude/ champagne underlay, and it's really flattering on her.

My step dad is wearing his black tux, with silver 'accessories' (cumberbund/bow tie). My dad is wearing a black tux, with whatever accessories he picks (he called me bridezilla for wanting to colour coordinate him, so needless to say I was not happy). And my FFIL is wearing a black suit.

The bridesmaids are in navy floor length dresses, and the groomsmen are in all black tuxes (with black shirts). My fiance is wearing a dark navy tux with black accents. Everyone's going to look so good!

Oh yeah, and my dress is white. And bedazzled. So I'm super excited to "pop" against all the dark shades.

The fathers will most likely just wear whatever suit they have, and hopefully a tie with a matching colour. My step mom is trying to figure out a dress colour that will compliment the colours in the wedding. She is pretty good fashion wise so I know it will look great!

FMIL, not exactly sure. This has not come up in convo with her yet.

My mom is wearing a floor length navy dress and my dad is wearing a black suit with a navy tie. Not sure what FH's dad will wear yet, but maybe a suit with a emerald green tie.

I told my parents that our wedding will have a more casual tone, so not to look at dresses that are too formal or fancy.

My dad will probably go with a suit. I'm trying to convince my mom of wearing a Hi-Lo dress with lots of colours!

My dad will probably wear a suit and my mom will probably wear a dress, but both should bring a change of jeans and sweater for the evening bonfires As for the *colours* I would think that my mom would wear black as it's her go to but I would approve of anything other than white
