What to wear while dress shopping

Kaitlyn, on February 14, 2024 at 04:23 Posted in Wedding fashion 0 3
I know a lot of people have said to wear shapewear and such, and depending on the type of shop you go to, you could basically be standing in front of your party in your underwear while they lift a dress over your head (I think that is less common now but still). I have anxiety and am self conscious about everything. But my one thing with the dress and all my clothes is that I need sleeves. Non negotiable. I know a lot of dress styles won’t have sleeve even if they can be added on after and I’ve thought about wearing a long sleeve body suit (probably with a V-neck so I can still see the neck line in most dresses) to calm my anxiety about sleeves and showing my arms while trying on dresses.

Has anyone done something similar or have any advice?

Wearing a long sleeve body suit sounds like a great idea to feel more comfortable and focused on finding the perfect dress. It gives you that extra coverage without compromising on style.

I personally would not wear anything underneath trying the dresses on if you don't plan to do so on the day of the wedding. You don't want anything that will affect the way you'll feel in that dress and how it fits.

Ditto if you don't plan on wearing shapewear on your wedding day. You'll look different wearing it vs not and when trying dresses on, you'll want to see what you'll actually look like on the day of.

Wear shoes that are the same height as what you're planning to wear on the day of. It doesn't have to be the exact wedding shoe but if you know you're going to wear a pair of 3 inch heels, then bring a pair of 3 inchers.

Eat before you go. If you like the way the dress looks on a full stomach, you won't feel self conscious about it on your wedding day.

*just to clarify, I wouldn’t wear the bodysuit with my dress day of (once I find it). It would be to have mock up sleeves for trying on all the styles I like that won’t have sleeves off the rack
