What to include with wedding invites.

Heather, on June 10, 2019 at 21:31 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 5
Hi all! I’m just wondering how detailed i should make my invite package. I’ll be sending a single sided invite with times and location, and rsvp card and I was thinking another card with details like presentation preferred, the fact we are doing donations for kisses during the reception (put cash in the jar and it will be donated to the charity and we kiss!) because I want people to bring change/cash for this, open bar, if they need hotel rooms to let me know (wedding is in a hotel and we get discounted room rates) etc. Or is this too much? I feel like if I was a guest I would love to have this info. But it that too much? I don’t want to have a wedding website which I know is where a lot of people put details like this. Looking for opinions or suggestions as to how/where is best to get all these details to our guests!

The invitation card size can depend on how much information can be added for guests to know. The way it was thought out for me was to create 2 cards with Wedding and Reception on one and RSVP and Accommodations on the second. The first card was for the Wedding information followed by the cocktail hour then Reception timings. The bottom you can add cash bar or toonie bar for guests to come prepared.

The second card had the RSVP information along with meal options and email address. Accommodations were also added to let the guests know under what names and dates to book. Room rates based on number of people. Here is the idea of what is being said as written:

We are having a one sided invitation, RSVP card, and a details card with our website info - along with key points we want to make sure every guest has (i.e. accommodations available at the hotel). Our website is password protected, so we wrote out the URL and password on the details card so people can access our website.

What I did was include a details card- this included accommodations, the fact it was cash bar, were registered. I had an invite, two small cards- one for the reception location as two venues, and the accommodations/details card. with ribbon around it- it was just 3g shy of being two stamps postage. This is something to consider if you can't deliver or want them all mailed

For ours we are doing an invitation that folds outwards so we can put directions and RSVP cards tucked in the left or right sides.

how many guests are you having at your wedding? Are majority of them out of town?

we have very few out of town guests so we are not going to provide hotel info. We will contact them personally instead to see if they need help.

For me personally, I would not write out on the invite which presentation you prefer. If you have a registry, include it on the bottom but if not, guests will get the hint that you prefer cash.

Since you said you don't want to have a wedding website detailing all the rest of the stuff going on regarding your wedding, I think another card would be a good idea! Keep in mind that this might make your overall invitiation envelope heavy enough for extra postage. Ours were just light enough for regular postate with an invitation, RSVP card, details card, RSVP envelope, and regular envelope.
