What style of wedding are you having?

Meggan, on February 15, 2017 at 10:55 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 22

What styles of weddings are people haveing, also how large.

Im having a rustic style outdoor weddding at the local fairgrounds. We are getting Married outside under some trees followed by a receptions indoors. Our ceramony will be at 630 pm in september so close to a sunset ceramonies. For food we are having a hotdog cart while we have photos and than a buffet we will prepare ourselves for people to enjoy through speaches. Folloewed by a night of dancing. We were also thinking of including a section with card/board games for our older family members that may not be into the dancing.

Thanks

That seems really cool!! I'm sure it will be a lot of fun! I think we will end up getting kegs for our open bar as well.

I will be having a short outdoor afternoon ceremony at a local park followed by a backyard reception at my Mother in Law's house Smiley smile We are looking at about 150 people with no kids, a couple teens and a couple babies.

We are going to take all of our photos before the ceremony before guests arrive so we can spend our afternoon mingling with our guests and relaxing. It will be a very non-formal reception and have a backyard bbq type of feel. Not sure what we are doing for food yet - it will be buffet but whether we do it outselves or get it catered is tbd.

Open bar! We will be providing a couple kegs of local craft beer and cases of home bottled wine.

We will have lawn games set up and lots of dancing! There will be a couple propane fire rings set up for guests to sit around and chat (we would prefer real fires but there will be a municipal fire ban at the time).

Also an area of the lawn will be open for guests to pitch tents and stay the night if they choose so they do not have to worry about driving or hotel costs (from experience I am expecting approx 30-40 of my guests will do this).

We're hoping to have something really laid back, more friends than family. Our guest list will probably max out at 60. We will probably have an earlier ceremony 4 or 430 because it gets dark so early in the winter. A full course sit down meal, though we haven't decided if we want to have a cake or not yet. Will probably have late night snacks of poutine, tacos and signature drinks of hot chocolate and cider for the cool weather!

Everyone's wedding sounds lovely!!!! Ours will be around 225 guests and will be a semi formal event. Our venue has a terrace and gazebo attached to our reception space. So we will be having our ceremony outside around 3:30. Then we will be leave to take pictures, our guests will have a break, where they can freshen up at the hotel. They will return to an antipasto buffet around 5, then I believe dinner will be at 6:30. We are having a 4 course meal of Portuguese soup, salad, chicken and beef tenderloin, with roasted potatoes and vegetables, and finishing off with Tiramisu for dessert! Then we will dance the night away. Hoping to provide a glass artist as entertainment to make handblown glass figurines for our guests (I've been trying to get a quote because there is 1 guy that does it and no one can track him down!!!) . Or we may just do a photobooth. Then we will have a late night table with pizza , poutine or waffle station, our wedding cake , pastries etc. I would like to get an ice creme cart there as well, as my finances favourite is ice cream but I still need to see if that's in the budget!!! I can't wait, just writing all this out makes me super excited!

The plan is to have 75 people. 5:30 outdoor ceremony with a cocktail style reception to follow at a nearby restaurant/ cafe, with dancing to follow. No kids, gourmet food and lots of booze. Lots of greenery and cutesy details.
Rustic chique meets metropolitan, I suppose. So far everyone I've described the plan to agrees that it's very "me".

I'm planning on a rather laid-back type of wedding. We have about 150 guests, with 35 of them being kids (10 and under). We are having an outdoor ceremony at a garden and the reception will be at a hall not too far away. We are doing a self-catered buffet style dinner. Our wedding is in August, so we are going to have a selection of salads and a beef roast or ham for protein. We are going to supply the wine for dinner and toasts but a toonie bar will be available for the rest of the evening. And we are doing a sparkler send-off at about 9:30.

My wedding ceremony will take place in our home Church here in Peterborough where we will! The reception will be at a banquet hall. It is a semi-formal wedding and we are aiming to have an elegant/royal feel to the wedding. The colour scheme is purple with gold accents (my dress has gold beading in it). We are having 120 guests and only 2 kids which would be our nieces, who will be our flower girls. We are having a sit down dinner which will consist of: caesar salad, dinner rolls, creamy garlic chicken, roasted potatoes, and a bean and carrot medley! For dessert we will have a dessert bar with several different options for guests. We are having a cash bar because an open bar is quite pricy and out of our budget. We will be having a late night lunch which will consist of a poutine bar with 6 different topping options, and a couple different pizza's. At this time we will also serve our cupcakes for our guests! We also have a photobooth that we got for free for booking with our photographer! Smiley smile

Our wedding is a bit bigger. We're having 250 guests and a formal 4 course sit down dinner. Ceremony is at our church and reception at a hotel. We have some fun stuff as well. A meat and cheese bar at midnight, photobooth, candy bar and Ukrainian dancers! We also have a couple kids at our wedding but not many, maybe 5 under the age of 10. We are making a little colouring and board games activity corner for them. The dancers are invited to stay after they dance so there's a few teenagers but they just dance the night away and play in the photobooth I'm sure. So our true guest list is closer to 270 with the dancers staying after dinner.
Ps Valerie, love the video games! That's an awesome idea!

Mine was a smaller (75 guests), semiformal, "destination" wedding. (though not held at a resort. Canada was the destination for us!) We did a 3 course plated dinner. Adults only. Ceremony was at a hotel and the reception was at a restaurant.

More formal yet informal (as in; 4 course plated meal, but video games set up in the corner), smallish (about 80 guests), no kids, outdoor ceremony
