What shoes to wear with a vintage style dress?

The dressWhat shoes to wear with a vintage style dress? 1

The dress I bought from Modcloth (pictured above) is the one I've always dreamed of wearing...unfortunately, I'm at a bit of a loss on how to style it when it comes to shoes...

Colour-wise, the dress is a creamy gold/champagne colour, and it comes to just above my feet (because I'm quite short). I really like the idea of pairing the dress with a pop of colour shoe and a short veil+comb combo! But what colour matches creamy gold? Is wearing a vintage shoe and a fascinator going to take the concept from classy to costume-y?

Any advice is appreciated!

I would wear a classic pump shoe in a warm colour that’s a shade or more darker like gold or blush

    Love your dress!!

If you have some money in the budget, check out dsign step shoes. They have some with a great vintage vibe and colours that might work with your dress. They're handmade in limited quantities so cost a little more but, they are so comfortable!

Hey, I bought this dress too! It's so beautiful and dreamy, even though I had been planning on the similar tea length dress, at $61 I couldn't resist! I'm having a bit of a crisis too. I always wanted to wear yellow t-strap heels, and bought a pair but I worry they may be clashing a bit. It's either those or a pair of Fluevog's I thrifted awhile back. I do think that a bright blue, a bright true green, or even a red would be a bold & stylish choice. Definitely stick with a more vintage shoe style, and away from the sparkly nightmare bridal shoes. Mod Cloth has a massive clearance right now, or go to a thrift store to find a vintage neutral heel (they're often made much more comfortable than modern shoes).I'm planning to pair my dress with a bird cage veil/ Russian blusher, but I might be going with a true vintage pill box hat with mink fur and bird cage veil. I'll have to see how it all works together. Hah! Anyways, these are the shoes I'm debating:

My dress has a 40s vibe to it and my Badgley Mischka shoes are a great fit! You can find them much cheaper online: try Saks Off 5th or Amazon.

I think that your choice of shoe can go either way, stay neutral like a cream or gold or go with a bold colour. I don't think that adding a vintage shoe and fascinator will be costume-y but very chic and classic.

I hear the saying accessories match the shoes.

This case can be heading that direction or given the colours you like and going with one that you like and pops out to you. Gold or Champagne would work well in the earthy tones and not shiny.

For me personally I would say to go with a basic shoe and then get it dyed to match

I picture a nice bright wedge of some sort. I like the idea of blue if you are on board with that tradition.

If you're looking for a pop - have you thought of blue? like a bright harbour blue... then your shoes can also be your something blue.

Love the idea of pairing it with a fascinator. What colours are you doing for your wedding? You could always do a nice gold coloured flat or little heel with some sparkle
