    Hey Alley Smiley heart

That's great! 160 people is a decent number of people, will you have games during the reception to entertain them? Smiley smile

We're having round tables, approx 23-24 tables depending on the number of rsvps when we send our invitations out. Our head table will be rectangular with a rectangular table winged out on each side for the wedding party. Lol also not looking forward to creating a seating plan (bit of family/friend drama as well) we have to have a seating plan as our dinner is sit down not buffet style. Anyone have any helpful hints on how to organize the seating chart?

I agree Alley, that it's a great style for a marquee tent! Smiley heart I like that they put the head table in the middle in this picture! Do you think you'll do the same? How many people are you inviting to your wedding? Smiley smile

I think I'm gonna go for the mix and match as my reception is in a marquee tent. I think it looks nice like that!

Ginela! I love these ideas!! Smiley heart

The rosette backdrop looks really pretty and colourful! I wouldn't have thought of it myself! Would you use it for your ceremony backdrop or reception?

I think it's great that you'll be doing things yourself! You should join our DIY group and show us what you've been up to, share your ideas. Smiley smile

I created a few discussions in the group too. Tell me which ones you like! Smiley smile

The reception would be in a recreation hall that could accommodate at least 100 people. Yeah most of the decorations would be DIY's

Hi Ginela Smiley heart Welcome to the community!

I'm so glad you're joining the community! You're so right, the U-shaped style is greta if you have limited space. What kind of venue will you hold for your reception in?

Did you already find your decorations? Smiley smile

Hi Emilie, The next step in planning is looking for an videographer and choosing the right one, wedding dress shopping and organizing prizes for the wedding social for next year. Other than that, things are going very well and I am starting to take classes in management . I start the online class on Saturdau and finish it on March 31, 2017 before the wedding social and the wedding. How are things with you?

We are having a late night cocktail reception....no seating charts! We ill have enough tables, chairs and high-tops for people to rest and chat or eat when they want. But no numbered tables, not chart and much less stress for me by the sound of it!

You ladies are brave to take on the seating plan project.

    Hi Emilie!

I've been holding off on any more DIY until after the weekend. My fiance's friend has been staying with us for 3 months now and I need my spare bedroom back to store my projects (so that my puppy doesn't get into them and ruin anything). I can't WAIT to have my craft room back!! (it's been a headache having him stay with us... but either tomorrow or Friday and I get my house back!!! )

After he leaves I really want to get my bouquet finished and the few board games I have left. I can't wait to get back to them!

I went to my last wedding show this past weekend Smiley laugh so now I'm working on getting hair and makeup and the limo booked.

    Hi Valerie Smiley heart

I know what you mean... It's much better to have these discussions "behind the scenes" like you said, without getting everyone else involved. How are things now?

I can't wait to hear from you! I've been wondering about your DIYs and everything and can't wait to see what you'll do next!! Smiley laugh

What step are you at in your planning? What have you been up to?

Thanks Emilie, I am glad that the Gastby theme has inspired you. Honestly, with all the ideas you have provide me has made me more happy to try and put this all together. Most of the guest will be in the same city as we are. But a few will be outside the province and one from the USA. I will check out those links as well.

Awww thanks Emilie, that's very sweet. Thankfully the drama has calmed for the time being, but I fully expect it to flare up and be in full effect once the pre-wedding events (showers, stag and does, etc) start happening. Luckily that's future me's problem Smiley winking

The fiancé is nervous knowing that it is looming and that we may end up needing to ask his mother to leave events (she will be the main source of any outbursts), and is DEFINITELY dreading the conversation he will have to have with her about behaving at wedding events, but there's only so much we can do about how other people behave.

I never thought I'd be thankful that my family prefers quiet "behind the scenes" drama (talking about people/events to quietly stir up drama) to large public outbursts, HA!

Yes, that tends to happen with families... It's good you know yours that well so you can save the wedding some drama too! And I totally think that having all those games will really help! Keep them distracted Smiley tongue

It's too bad your dog can't be there, because I had all these great ideas for her Smiley laugh

What role would you give your dog on your wedding day?

You know, if you need it, you can always vent about what's going in the Family stuff. It's a closed group, so not everyone can see it and we all no that no family is perfect. I'll be there to listen if you need it. Smiley winking

HAHA Thanks Emilie! And unfortunately it is just a part of weddings sometimes (it brings out some crazy emotions in people)... most shockingly, it's my fiancés side that is causing the most drama (surprising because it's usually my family that is very high drama all the time).

Oh I update my seating chart constantly (so I can remember the dynamics of who can't sit at the same table as someone else since I haven't met most of his family)! But yes... still PLENTY of time for that thankfully.

My decorations are pretty minimal, but I'm getting there!

    Hi Emile,

We are looking at about 100 people as maximum, so if have less than 100 people that would be great as well! I do like this picture with the setup and I feel the guest would be able to see everything and interact with each other without having a blocked view! Smiley smile

    Hi Simone Smiley heart

You're going for a very classic setting, which will be good for your elegant Gatsby theme. Smiley smile

It will allow you to be more creative with centerpieces like these for instance:

Do you know how many guests will attend your wedding?

    Hi Valerie Smiley heart

I think round tables are a good thing, they make it more intimate for guests to get to know each other, laugh or play together. Smiley laugh I think it will also be perfect to place your different table numbers and game centerpieces!!

Do you know how many tables you'll need to sit all your guests?

We will be having round tables for the guest and a rectangular head table for the wedding party as recommended by our venue.
